I decided I was angry at all of them and turned to stare out my window. Giving them the silent treatment wasn’t easy, but the longer I stayed silent, the angrier I got. By the time we got to my house, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to fight them or lock them out and not see them for a week. My choice was made for me when I tried to slip past them to sneak into my house and Jude caught me by the back of my pants.

“No, you don’t.” He picked me up and put me over his shoulder in a way that had my ass way too exposed when Cyrus was so close and so in the mood to spank.

Cyrus spanking me was the strangest thing. It turned me on and made me feel like I was burning up with need, but I still felt nervous if I knew a spanking was coming. It was the anticipation that drove me crazy. Even though I knew he’d never hurt me, and he didn’t, I always waited for that first slap like it was going to feel like hell. Wanting it and dreading it made accepting it from him a game of control that I knew we both liked. I was still nervous, though.

Jude carried me to my porch and then said a friendly hello to Bad Mood Banner. “Hey, Mr. Banner. How’s it going?”

“Oh! I was just…I was just taking my trash out. What’s that on your shoulder, son?”

Sam still sounded pissy, but he was always respectful to Banner. “That would be Poppy, sir.”

After a second of silence, the old man started laughing so hard he got choked up. When he caught his breath again, he sounded too pleased. “About time someone took a hold of that girl. Her parents let her get away with too much, being the only girl and all.”

I tried to twist around so I could see the old man who’d once been my principal and had since become my archnemesis. “You say that to my mom’s face!”

“She’s in firm hands now, Mr. Banner.” Cyrus rubbed his hands together and then clapped them once for effect. “We’ll make sure she starts acting right.”

I was going to make them all pay. I didn’t care if I had to wait five years to get my revenge, they would all suffer for embarrassing me in front of Bad Mood Banner.

Jude didn’t put me down right away once we were inside. He carried me to my kitchen island and somehow, he and Sam silently worked out that they were going to put me over the counter. I had no chance of escaping with my hips pressing into the edge of the counter and my stomach and arms stretched out across it. My feet dangled over the floor and Jude’s arm was a steel bar over my back, holding me in place.

I struggled anyway. “Let me go. I’m going to use my teeth the next time you put your dicks near my mouth. I can’t believe you three!”

A loudcrackfilled the room as Cyrus’s hand came down on my ass. The bark was way worse than the bite, but it still sent a shiver down my spine. “You could’ve been hurt.”

I struggled against their hold because I felt like that’s what I was supposed to do. I was still furious with them, but I wanted to deal with that later. I wanted to hear Cyrus’s gravel-filled voice while he spanked me and I wanted to feel the way his hand lingered after each spank because he couldn’t help himself.

Crack. “That man almost caught the two of you in his yard, dancing around like a couple of toddlers!”

I fought to keep my lips sealed.

Crack.“You put yourself in danger and that’s not okay. You don’t get to risk yourself for anything or anyone.”

“He all but called Sara easy and he deserved it! He made her cry and that’s what is really not okay!” I grunted when his hand came down again, lower that time. “We were fine! We could’ve handled ourselves! I’ve been the same way my whole life and I’m going to die this way so if you don’t like it, you can just shove it!”

Their silence forced me to replay what I’d said in my mind and I rested my head against the countertop as they started laughing one by one. I fought my own laugh, still too angry to just let it go, but when Cyrus’s next spank was a mere pat, I lost it.

I slowly pushed myself off the counter and groaned. “You three make me crazy sometimes. I just sounded like such a brat and it’s all your fault.”

Sam braced himself on the counter and raised his eyebrows at me. “How do you figure?”

I waved my hands at them. “You just treated me like a little kid! You dragged me away from my friend and acted like big, bad papas who were there to ground their little girl. And you embarrassed me in front of Bad Mood Banner! He can’t think he’s right in our fight. And another thing! You spanked me in front of my brother! You spanked me in front of Charlie and now my entire family is going to know. I’m surprised my mom isn’t already calling me to ask me about my spanking kinks and kink-nots!”

Cyrus leaned his hip against the island and crossed his arms. There was fire in his eyes as he ran his gaze down my body. “First of all, if you’re going to use a pet name, I prefer daddy.”

Oh. My knees went weak at that word coming off his wicked tongue in his dark voice. I’d never thought about calling someone that in a million years, but the blood thrumming between my thighs made me second-guess my own name.

“Second of all, I’m just going to ignore that shit about Banner. Why you’re involved in a multi-year-long fight with a senior citizen, I’ll never understand.” He ticked another finger off. “Third of all? I wouldn’t have spanked you in front of Charlie but seeing you putting yourself in danger made me crazy. I’ve sat on the sidelines for decades, we all have, watching you do things that put yourself at risk and we’ve quietly argued our opinions, but you opened a can of worms. You pranced your little ass right into our heads and because of that, you get to deal with us protecting you from yourself.”

I bit my lip and told myself not to smile because it wasn’t cute that they’d been cavemen. I lost the battle in the end. “You think I have a little ass?”

Jude groaned. “Did anyone ever buy that gag?”

Sam raised his hand above his head and pointed at himself. “I volunteer as gag.”

Rolling my eyes at them, it dawned on me that it was really weird that they were with Charlie and somehow exactly where Sara and I were. Studying them, I crossed my arms under my chest. “Why were you three with my brother?”

Sam looked away first and I knew they’d been up to something. Sam couldn’t lie to me. He glanced back at me, saw me staring at him, and looked away again too fast.
