“Oh.Oh!” Mom fanned herself and slapped Charlie’s arm. “What happens between a man and woman who love each other isn’t nasty. You’ll figure it out when a woman can deal with you and your job someday.”

I laughed and made a face at him. “That didn’t go the way you wanted it to, did it?”

Sam knocked on the table. “Hi! Yes, it’s me, the guy who was just offered anapologyin front of your mother. We’re going to have to talk about your timing, Poppy.”

Momtsked at him. “Oh, Sam! Don’t be embarrassed. An active sex life is a very good thing. Especially when Poppy stops taking her birth control and gives me lots of grandbabies.”

“Mom!” I groaned and tried to forget everything she’d said. “Apparently, I just need to spit this out before this goes off the rails any more than it already has. And I’m sure you’re wondering, why the hell are you saying all of this in front of your family, Poppy? I have a reason, though. Mainly because Bonnie pushed my buttons and I did that whole stand-up exposé thing. But really, it’s because you guys deserve to know that the woman who loves you isn’t scared to admit that she loves you. I’m okay with everyone knowing. Even if it ends one day and I have to explain to every person here that it didn’t work out. I don’t want to love you in secret or fear. I want to love you as big as I can. Mostly, I just want to love you for as long as I can.”

Jude got to me first. He pulled me into his chest and turned what I thought was going to be a hug into tossing me over his shoulder. I squeaked and then felt a large hand come down on my ass, harder than ever would’ve been appropriate in a church.

I twisted to look up at Cyrus and winked at him. I’d missed his hands.

“Oh, goodness! Wait until you’re out of the church, at least.” Mom giggled and looked around the room. “Where’s your father…?”

Charlie made a choking sound. “I’m leaving this family.”

“Wait!” I strained to see Banner. That’s when I noticed he was standing right behind us, blocking Sam from reaching me. “We have to give Banner a ride home.”

Sam narrowed his eyes at me. “I’m mad at him.”

“He’s jealous you kissed me.”

“I’m not jealous she kissed you. I still don’t even believe that’s true.” Sam put Bogie’s leash in the old man’s hand. “I’m mad at you for nearly killing Poppy. You’re not allowed to drive. You thought a cake was making eyes at you earlier. And who do you think is going to spend all day tomorrow at the impound lot with you trying to convince them to give you your car back?”

Banner bounced his shoulders happily. “It’s ’cause you kissed me.”

***Cyrus***

Judewasdriving, andas soon as Mr. Banner was out of the truck and in his house, I looked at him and nodded toward the road. “Your house?”

He nodded and glanced to the back seat where Sam was already doing his best to make up for lost time. His hands were in Poppy’s hair and they were moving their whole bodies into the kiss they shared. Seeing Poppy’s tongue when their heads tilted was something I’d never known I’d find sexy, but I did.

Sam dragged one of his hands down to her chest and cupped her breast. Poppy’s back arched and her moans filled the truck, driving me crazy. They had the same effect on Sam, and I watched as he moved his hand lower to cup her through her jeans. When that wasn’t good enough, he yanked at the button hard enough to send it flying and shoved his hand into her pants.

Poppy’s head fell back and she whimpered. “Oh god.”

“Fuck, you’re wetter than I’ve ever felt you. You missed us, didn’t you?”

She spread her legs and held on to his hair while he pumped his fingers in and out of her. The scent of her arousal hung in the air and Poppy’s breathy answer nearly had me climbing into the back seat to shove Sam out of my way. “I miss each of you so much. I’ve been so lonely, but only for you.”

The truck jerked and Jude swore. “I don’t think I’m going to make it.”

I would’ve laughed if we didn’t have Poppy in the back. I reached back and grabbed Sam’s suit jacket. “Unless you want Jude to drive us off into the swamp, you’ve got to wait.”

Sam’s eyes were glazed over when he looked toward me and Jude. His mouth thinned when he realized I was serious. Letting out a pained groan, he looked back at Poppy, at her pleading eyes, and back to me. “I hate both of you so much right now. We should’ve just stayed at my house.”

Poppy’s whine filled the truck as Sam eased his hand out of her pants. She watched him lick his fingers clean and let her head hit the glass behind her. “I was so close.”

“I’m more sorry than you could ever know, baby.” Looking out the front window, Sam saw we were close and nodded. “We can make it. Just a few more minutes.”

My body heated as Poppy’s eyes burned into mine. I could see her brain working and wished like hell I knew what she was thinking.

“I meant every word of what I said.” She licked her lips and then smiled so sweet, like she hadn’t just been begging to be fucked. “I’m sorry it took me so long to realize what you guys all knew so long ago. I forgot that I was loving you three and not anyone else.”

I reached back and gripped her hand. “Lucky for you, you did fall for the three men who know you better than anyone in the world. If you hadn’t made this a little more difficult than it needed to be, it wouldn’t have been you.”
