Piros leaned against her before walking himself to the door that led outside. She followed as she zipped up her coat. Pulling her ear coverings out of her pocket, she slid them on prior to opening the door. All of her air was sucked out at the cold.

She wasn’t prepared to be out here so she simply drew the door shut behind her and put her back to the wind as her dog ran off to take care of what he needed to do. Thankfully, he wasn’t a foolish pet and came quickly to her so they could both get inside.

Once the door had been secured behind her, she struck out reluctantly for the one warm room in the house. Bradford was bent over, adding more wood to the fire, and she smiled at the sight of the small yellow tail hanging down from his backside.

She hummed softly as she approached.

“Are you seriously humming The Lion Sleeps Tonight as you stand there looking at my ass?”

Maybe not as quiet as I thought.

He growled low at her and rose to his full, and impressive, height. Even in a unicorn onesie. Dusting off his hands, he prowled toward her, face twisted in sexual hunger mixed with danger.

“Get out of your coat, Iris.” Even as he issued the command he didn’t stop his approach.

She listened, and put her coat on the back of one of the chairs holding the rope to dry clothing. Bradford moved until he had her backed against the wall, the heat he created in her such that the cold from the wall didn’t register. All she could focus on was him. Bradford bracketed her in, and she locked on his features as he stared down at her.

“Iris.” Her name was a rasp along her skin. Rough. Commanding.

Perfection.

His gaze touched everywhere on her face, so real she wouldn’t have bet against his fingers doing the actual caressing. Damn if she didn’t want to lean in closer.

He did it for her, slow but determined. Giving her time if she wished to move away. Iris wasn’t going anywhere. She’d bolted for the last time.

Bradford gripped her curls again, and she nearly purred in pleasure. His lips feathered along hers, his breath warm and intoxicating.

“Time for bed.”

He clenched his hand once before releasing her hair and stepping back so she could move closer to the bed. It didn’t take long for them to get situated. Bradford crawled in first and held the blankets up, waiting for her.

Belly tightening, she looked over to where Piros lay on a bed of his own, not a care in the world. “Night, boy.” She took off her boots and left them by the fire to keep them warm then padded over to the bed, hesitated then took a breath and slid in next to the irresistibly sexy grown-ass man in a unicorn onesie. The additional blankets they’d found were on top of the covers they’d used previously.

Without asking, Bradford gathered her close in his arms and basically settled her on his body. One of her legs wedged between his and his arms were locked around her, keeping her tight to him. Ass and neck, that was where he cupped her, and she didn’t mind so much.

“You and I are going to happen, Iris.”

“Pretty presumptuous for a man in a pastel, starred unicorn outfit.” She kept her face against him so she didn’t have to maintain eye contact.

“Confident as fuck, considering you were getting yourself off on my dick in this exact outfit before you ran like a scared chicken.”

He has a point.

Bradford shifted against her, pulling her tighter to him, and she allowed it. Iris didn’t want to admit how nice it was to be tucked in close to a warm body. And not just any body, but this man’s.

“A momentary lapse in judgment. I’m not here to fuck.”

He rolled his hips, gripping hers to keep her against him, and she tried unsuccessfully to swallow back a hungry moan which slipped free.

“I wasn’t planning on falling from the sky either, yet here we both are.”

She furrowed her brow even though she didn’t pull back from being pressed to his chest in order to see his face in the flickering light. “What I’m hearing you say then is because we’re both here, no reason not to fuck.”

His warm laugh moved over her, bringing with it another level of comfort that until this man, she hadn’t realized she craved.

“Go easy on my ego, beautiful. I’m a grown-ass man in a unicorn onesie.” He brushed his lips over her forehead. “Any negative behavior on your part could permanently harm my psyche.”

Her blood heated at his causal use of beautiful. Even so, she rolled her eyes. “Are you seriously trying to get in my pants by saying if I turn you down I’m actually hurting you and stunting your emotional growth?”
