Shit, it was really happening.

Addie turned her head and met his gaze. She smiled at him.

The knot in his gut eased.

It was him and Addie. Together.

He knew everything would be all right.

Addie was so tired. But it was a good tired.

She leaned back against the pillows on the hospital bed, and listened to a loud, angry cry from her son.

“You have a hungry little man here.” The smiling nurse carried baby Murphy over and handed him to Addie. The woman helped her get him settled on her chest and latched on. Then he started to suck.

Addie smiled down at her baby. He had a sturdy little body and red hair, just like his daddy.

“There he goes.” The nurse nodded. “How are you feeling?”

“I’m good, thanks.”

Murphy had been born first through a natural delivery, but Fiona had gone into distress, and Addie had been rushed in for an emergency C-section. Everything had worked out fine, but she was sure Bram had been worried the entire time. Thankfully, she’d known the Sentinel Security gang had been with him.

She glanced over and smiled.

Bram sat in an armchair beside her bed, holding a sleeping Fiona in his arms. The baby had a big, pink bow over her red hair. Addie loved how tiny she looked in Bram’s big arms. He stared down at his daughter in awe.

“Bram?”

He looked up at Addie, and his face warmed. He rose, carefully so he didn’t wake Fiona, and because she knew he was still afraid he’d drop the babies. It never failed to amuse her that a man used to working with weapons and bombs was scared of a tiny baby.

“You look beautiful,” he said.

“Liar.” She knew she must look tired and wrung out.

“You do.” His voice was sincere, and she knew he meant it.

God, she loved him.

“Your son is very hungry.” She gently stroked Murphy’s soft cheek where he suckled noisily.

Bram watched with avid interest. “If he’s anything like me, he’ll be hungry until he hits adulthood.”

“Well, they both have your red hair.” They’d have to wait to see if the twins had blue or green eyes.

“Thank you, Addie. For them.” His voice filled with emotion. “For loving me.”

She reached out and took his hand. “You never have to thank me for that. I was born to love you, Bram O’Donovan.”

He bent over her and pressed his lips to hers. She kissed her husband and basked in his love.

She had a man who adored her, and now two beautiful, precious babies.

Yes, dreams could morph and change, but if you never gave up believing, they really did come true.
