She heard the low rumble of Bram and Nick’s voices in her kitchen. When she stepped out of the bedroom, Bram hurried over to take her small suitcase.

“Nick will stay and secure your front door.”

“Thanks, Nick,” she murmured.

The bearded man nodded. “Sure thing, sweetheart. Get some rest.”

Bram took her hand. When they reached the door, and she saw the broken frame, a shiver rocked through her.

He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and led her down the stairs. Before she knew it, he had her bundled into his truck. Nervously, she looked around the street.

Was her attacker still out there? Was he watching them?

Bram reached over and squeezed her arm. “I’m not letting anyone get you.”

She nodded. “Thanks, Bram.”

He grunted. “You don’t have to thank me. Let’s get you safe so you can get some sleep.”

At this time of night, the drive to the Sentinel Security warehouse in Chelsea wasn’t too long. Soon, Bram pulled his big truck into an underground parking lot beneath the warehouse.

After a short elevator ride, they stepped into a long corridor. She took in the arched windows at the end of the hall, and the polished-concrete floor.

Bram used a fancy palm scanner lock to open his front door. “This is my place.”

She walked in and her mouth dropped open.

The apartment was huge and modern. She imagined it was filled with light during the day. It had a concrete floor, and touches of wood and gray. It was very masculine. Very Bram. There were some bookcases against one wall, but not much on them. A couple of large, tan-leather couches sat in front of a huge television screen.

If this was her place, she’d add some color. Some pictures, maybe a plant or two. And books. She’d fill the shelves with books.

“Here.” He led her down the hallway. “You must be tired.”

The bedroom was large, with a huge bed with a wooden headboard. It was covered in dark-green covers. There were more arched windows that let in the glint of city lights. A large mirror leaned against one wall, and there was a wooden dresser.

“This is your room,” she said.

“Yeah. I’ll sleep on the couch. I don’t have a bed in the other bedroom.” He shrugged a shoulder. “I don’t have guests.”

She hoped that meant women, too. She bit her lip. “Thanks again, Bram. For saving me.”

“Always.” He shifted, and looked like he wanted to touch her. “You’re safe now. Get some sleep.”

He strode over to the bathroom and flicked on the light. “I know you like some light. I’ll leave this on for you.”

Her heart thumped. “Thanks.”

“Good night, Addie.”

After he’d left, Addie sat on the edge of the bed. It was so big she was sure she would get lost in it. She sighed. She was pretty tired, and the adrenaline had left her system, leaving her even more exhausted.

She splashed her face with water in the very cool bathroom, decorated with gray tiles and green towels. Bram’s bathroom. She glanced at the huge shower. He showered in there. Instantly, her brain painted the image of his big body, naked and wet.

She knew exactly how his muscled body looked, the light smattering of hair on his chest.

There was a tug low in her belly.

Damn. Someone had attacked her and here she was, drooling over Bram. She was blaming the pregnancy hormones.
