“Addie is mine. She’s pregnant with my baby, and she was scared and alone, and you lied to her.”

“I… I…”

He leaned forward. “You left her in danger. You left my baby in danger.”

Pam’s lips flattened. “I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I didn’t know.”

“You should be sorry,” he growled.

“Bram.” Addie pressed into his side and slid her hand across his hard, flat stomach. She was feeling a little sorry for Pam, despite everything.

The other woman’s gaze fell to where Addie touched him, and her face twisted.

Okay, maybe Addie didn’t feel that sorry.

She let herself remember the fear, the worry, the terrible ache when she’d been alone and thought Bram had abandoned her. She glared at the woman.

Pam lifted her chin. “I like you, Bram. I thought if you gave me a chance, we’d be good together.” She sniffed. “Then I realized you’re like all the other men out there. You wanted a blonde schoolgirl.”

Addie rolled her eyes. “I’m twenty-six years old.”

“Give it a few more years, and he’ll trade you in for a younger model,” Pam said. “They all do.”

“Be quiet,” Bram snapped. “I didn’t even know who you were. I’ve never shown any interest in you.”

Pam flinched.

He pressed a hand over Addie’s stomach, and she jolted. She loved his hands on her.

Pam followed the movement and her face paled even more.

“She is pregnant with my baby, and you blocked her.”

“I didn’t know,” the other woman said.

“It doesn’t matter.” Bram’s jaw locked tight. “You didn’t do your job.”

Addie leaned into him even more.

Hex stepped forward. “I’ve already informed Killian of this breach of protocol.”

Now, the last drop of color left Pam’s face. “I said I’m sorry. I—”

“It won’t be enough to save your job,” Hex said. “Pack up your things. Someone from HR will be down to see you soon.”

The woman’s shoulders dropped.

Bram turned and headed back toward the elevator, keeping Addie’s hand tight in his.

“Bram?” She tried to gauge his mood.

Suddenly, he stopped and gently pushed her against the wall. She gasped.

He cupped her face and kissed her.

She still felt the anger simmering inside him, but she melted against him. It was clear that he hated what she’d gone through, and that warmed her heart.

Then he opened his mouth and really kissed her, and Addie forgot all about Pam.
