Killian snorted. “I pay you a large retainer, from memory.”

“A nice bottle of the Fuenteseca Reserva 21-Year-Old tequila should do it.”

Bram made a sound. “You need a good bottle of Irish whiskey.”

Addie blinked. “They’re joking around? Right now?”

Hex squeezed her arm. “It doesn’t mean they’re not taking it seriously. They’re just blowing off steam.”

“I can’t lose him.” Her hand splayed over her stomach. “We can’t lose him.”

“You’re not going to, Addie.” Hex crouched in front of her, her face serious. “Bram is tough. Too tough to get hurt. He’s been brooding for months, worried about you. He asked me to find you, and now he has you back, and he isn’t going anywhere.”

Addie swallowed and nodded.

She looked over, and saw Bram was looking at her. Their gazes locked.

Suddenly, Santi sat back.

“It’s done. You’re all good, Excalibur. If anyone’s feeling nervous, they should step back.”

No one moved.

Addie sucked in a breath.

Bram stepped off the platform gingerly, and when nothing happened, everyone relaxed. He bent over and put his hands on his knees, sucking in a few breaths.

Devyn slapped his arm. “Nice to see you didn’t blow up, bestie.”

Bram shot her a look, then turned and strode across the space to Addie.

Relief made her giddy. When he wrapped his arms around her, she leaped into his arms with a small cry. She pressed her lips to his.

He let out a low groan, then opened his mouth and kissed her. When they finally broke apart, he pressed his face to her hair.

“Feck, I was afraid,” he whispered.

She clung to him. “You didn’t look it.”

“I wasn’t afraid for myself. I was afraid to leave you…and the baby.” He nuzzled her. “I need to hold you tight. Just a bit longer.”

“Don’t let go.” She reveled in the solid feel of him, and the reassuring beat of his heart.

“Hades, find Farley,” Killian said sharply. “Find out what the fuck he knows. Bram was lured here.”

Addie sucked in a breath. Bram was targeted?

“I’m on it, boss.” Matteo headed out with a loose-hipped stride. “Keep your girl safe, Bram.”

Bram nodded, then set her down.

“Let’s get back to the office,” Killian said. “I want to know who the fuck is behind this. No one messes with my clients or my people.”

Addie fought back a shiver. She never, ever wanted to be on Killian’s bad side.

Bram wrapped an arm around Addie, and she leaned into him.

“It’s going to be all right, Addie. I promise.”
