Bram took a step inside. The unit was mostly empty, except for a few boxes, and what covered the walls. The walls were covered in photos of Addie.

He turned his head, jaw tight. There were pictures of her on the street, shopping, dancing, working at the bar. Some were taken through her bedroom window as she changed her clothes.

His hands curled into fists.

“Take it easy.” Devyn gripped his arm. “Dial it back. We need evidence to find the sick fuck.”

They searched through the boxes. Bram took photos of the walls and Devyn collected a few bills and receipts, but there was nothing obvious. Nothing pointing to where Kozlov was hiding.

I will find you, asshole.Bram made the silent promise.

“Let’s go,” Devyn said. “The place is closing.”

He gave her a short nod.

“When we get back to the office, we’ll hit the gym. You can burn it off.”

He grunted.

When they stepped outside, night was falling, and the street was empty. He heard the rumble of a train in the distance.

Then Devyn suddenly stopped. “Or maybe we’ll burn it off now.”

He lifted his head.

Four large silhouettes were waiting in the street by his truck.

One man held a steel bar in his hand, tapping it menacingly on his palm.

CHAPTERELEVEN

Bram carefully scanned their surroundings, rage welling inside of him.

“Kozlov’s friends, I assume,” Devyn said, her voice cool.

“I doubt the asshole has friends,” Bram muttered.

He and Devyn strode down the street.

Devyn raised her voice. “Kozlov send you?”

Bram gave a small shake of his head. That was Devyn, straight to the point.

“Da,” a man rumbled.

“Where is he?” Devyn continued.

“He does not want to be found.” The man who spoke was muscular, with a puckered scar on his cheek, and a heavy Russian accent. “And he wants you to stay away from what’s his.” The man skewered Bram with a hard look.

“She isn’t property,” Bram said. “And she’s pregnant withmybabies. He’s a fucking stalker—”

“Bram,” Devyn murmured.

Right. He needed to keep his cool.

“Look boys, this won’t go your way.” Devyn pressed a hand to one hip. “Walk away now, and we won’t hurt you.”

The men stared at her for a beat, then started laughing.
