“Whatever Kozlov paid you, it’s not enough,” she warned.

“Our boss owed him a favor, and we must pay it.”

Another man smiled, eyeing Devyn hungrily. “You are just a woman.” He rubbed his crotch. “Good for only one thing.”

Oh, shit.Bram tensed. This wouldn’t end well.

Devyn’s smile turned sharp. “And an idiot like you is only good for one thing, too. I’ll be happy to show you.”

Fuck. Bram knew that Devyn was good in a fight, but if any of these assholes touched her, or she got hurt, Killian would lose his mind.

The Russians laughed, and Bram drew in a breath. They weren’t Kozlov, but they were helping the fucker. Bram had plenty of rage to work off.

The man with the scar muttered something in Russian. The guy with the crowbar came at Bram. He swung the bar fast.

Bram ducked, then spun. He landed a hard punch to the man’s mid-section. The guy grunted, and Bram ripped the bar free of his hands. He turned and hit the guy hard in the head.

The man dropped to the ground.

Devyn launched forward. The smart-mouthed man came at her, grinning.

He didn’t grin for long. Devyn’s kick hit him straight in the face. He yowled, and she followed through with two hard punches, and an elbow to his throat.

As he gagged, her front kick toppled him over.

Bram whirled on the other two. His fist connected with a jaw, and he dodged their punches and kicks, landing several of his own.

He let his anger fuel him. All he thought about was the fight.

And protecting Addie.

He’d never gotten the chance to defend his ma or Fiona.

His next punch broke the man’s nose with a crunch. He heard Devyn scuffling with the final attacker.

Bram punched again. With a groan, the man collapsed on the dirty street. He gripped the front of the man’s shirt and kept hitting him.

“He’s out cold, Bram.”

He ignored Devyn and kept hitting.

“Bram.” She grabbed his bloody fist. “Addie will be worried.”

He met her gaze, his blood still running hot.

Suddenly, a gun shot rang out. Years of experience had them both moving fast. He yanked her, spinning to cover her with his body.

A bullet whizzed past, and he shoved Devyn down beside his truck.

“Quit the hero bullshit, Bram.” She shoved him and swiveled, her gun in hand.

“If you get hit, Killian will kill me. Better I take a bullet from a bad guy than my boss.”

She rolled her eyes. “Where did the shot come from?”

“Don’t know.” Bram hunkered down and looked around. “But it’s either Kozlov, or another friend of his.”

A volley of bullets hit the side of his truck. They both ducked down and Bram drew his Glock out.
