“Cain.”

Bram noted the agent didn’t give his surname.

Shade turned to Devyn. “Hello, Mrs. Hawke.” He shook his head. “I can’t believe you married Steel.”

“Sometimes I can’t either, but I have zero regrets.” Devyn hugged her former workmate and friend.

The spy tried to hide a wince.

She pulled back and frowned at him. “You’re still hurt.”

Shade had recently been attacked by a rogue agent, out to make a name for himself as an assassin of spies.

“I’m fine.”

Devyn poked his side. Shade gritted his teeth.

“Broken ribs,” she said. “You should be resting.”

“I rested long enough. I wanted to check on you.” He glanced at the bodies in the street. “I see it didn’t take you long to find trouble.”

“This is Bram’s trouble. A Russian guy is stalking his woman. Hispregnantwoman.”

Shade raised a brow and looked at the bodies. “He one of these?”

“No,” Bram said. “These guys were doing him a favor.”

Shade snorted. “I’m sure they regret it.”

“We’re still trying to find the asshole,” Bram added.

“Well, one of these guys is still breathing.” Shade smiled. “I suggest we take him in and ask him a few questions.”

Devyn smiled back. “I knew I liked you.”

“You have a funny way of showing it. You’re usually cursing at me.”

“Yes, well, you can be annoying. Bram here is my new bestie. You’ve been demoted.”

Shade shook his head, then met Bram’s gaze. They shared a look.

“Good luck with that,” Shade said.

She elbowed him.

Then Bram headed toward the Russian thug who was groaning quietly on the ground.

He had questions, and he needed answers.

“Just sit down there.”

Addie let Hex push her into a chair near the office kitchen. There was a lush, green wall, and she’d ordinarily be soaking in all the plants, but she was too worried.

Hex had told her that Bram and Devyn had been attacked.

“Here, drink this.” Hex shoved a mug into her hand.
