Warmth seeped into Addie’s cold fingers.

“It’s tea,” Hex said.

“They were attacked. Outnumbered.”

“Pfft. Six against Bram and Devyn is not outnumbered.” Hex tossed her pink-streaked hair back, and rested a hand on her hip. Today, she wore slim black pants and a high-necked, sleeveless shirt. “They weren’t hurt. They’ll be here soon.”

“Where the hell are they?” Killian prowled in. He seemed his usual, cool self, until you looked at his eyes.

He was worried.

God, this scary man really loved his new wife.

Hex huffed out a breath. “They’refine. No one’s hurt.” She smiled. “And they said they had a prisoner.”

Nick followed Killian in. “Apartment was empty. Kozlov’s sleeping and eating there, but nothing else.”

Addie sipped her tea, trying to keep her hand from shaking. When would this Kozlov stop? She’d thought it was only him they had to deal with, but it seemed he had friends.

God, if something had happened to Bram and Devyn…

Her stomach twisted into a big knot. Maybe she should run? Get far away where Kozlov couldn’t find her.

She pressed a hand to her belly. Where would she go? There was nowhere she could go.

Voices echoed from down the hall.

Devyn strode in like she didn’t have a care in the world, Bram right behind her.

Addie drank in the sight of him. He was his usual scowling self. He looked fine, but his red hair was ruffled, and as she looked closer, she saw flecks of blood on his shirt.

Killian went straight to Devyn. “You’re all right?” He cupped her jaw.

“Yes, Hawke. We kicked ass.”

He hauled her in and kissed her. Addie’s heart did a little sigh. Their love was obvious, and they looked really gorgeous together.

Bram knelt in front of Addie. She cupped his cheek, her stupid emotions welling up. “You’re sure you’re okay?”

He nodded.

She stroked his stubbled jaw. That’s when she saw his knuckles were torn up and bloody. “Bram.” She gripped his wrist.

“It’s nothing. I promise.”

Another tall man strode in, shoving a handcuffed man ahead of him. The bound man looked blank faced, and surly.

His captor… Addie blinked.Wow. He looked like an action hero. He was tall, with broad shoulders that narrowed down to lean hips. A tight, gray Henley clung to his muscular chest, and his long legs were encased in black cargo pants. He had tawny-brown hair streaked with gold, and it was pulled up in a sexy man bun, that showcased his long face and strong jaw.

Then the man lifted his head, his gaze locking on Hex.

Hex stared back at him, appearing, for once, speechless.

“I brought you a gift, Steel,” the newcomer drawled, amusement in his deep voice.

“Shade,” Killian said. “Good to see you.”

“We had a little help in our fight,” Devyn said. “Shade is the king of popping up at the right time.”
