She sat in a chair in the kitchen area of the office. Sentinel Security was a large organization, and the upper levels of the warehouse were home to the corporate and cybersecurity teams.

Down here in the lower levels was where Killian’s alpha team worked. They were all former military and international law enforcement, with the skills to carry out more complex and dangerous jobs.

After years in the Irish Army Ranger Wing and Directorate of Military Intelligence, Bram had been looking for a change, and Killian had approached him.

There’d been nothing for him in Ireland, except his dad—a bitter, cranky, old man. Bram saw him once a year, and that was enough for the both of them.

Bram liked working for Sentinel Security. It suited him. Usually, he could work behind the scenes, and he avoided personal protection. He preferred not dealing with people unless he had to.

Killian had renovated an old cargo warehouse to house the Sentinel Security offices. He’d kept the brick walls and black iron touches, but the rest of the place was accented with modern décor, and lots of greenery.

All the main Sentinel Security team had apartments on the upper levels. It made for a short commute to the office, which Bram liked a lot. He hated the New York traffic.

As the slim, dark-haired Daniel murmured to Addie, Bram couldn’t take his eyes off her. She had some color back in her cheeks, and now she glowed. Her hair was thick and golden, her breasts a little fuller. He shifted in his chair, feeling a shot of guilt about feeling a definite twitch in his cock.

She’s pregnant, you feck.

Daniel strapped a blood pressure cuff on her arm. “So, are you taking prenatal vitamins? Sleeping okay?”

Addie nodded. “Mostly. My feet ache sometimes, and I can’t always find a comfy position to sleep in.”

“That’s all normal, and probably only going to get more challenging,” Daniel said.

She pulled a face. “Great.” Then she smiled. “Actually, I can’t wait. Even the not-so-fun things, like morning sickness, have been an experience. I just want to soak it all up.”

The doctor smiled at her. “And how far along are you?”

“Eighteen weeks.” She flicked a glance at Bram.

Which time had gotten her pregnant? He’d used condoms, but he knew they weren’t one hundred percent effective. Plus once or twice, he’d been too far gone and slid into her without protection. He’d finally pulled out and suited up, but…

The image of her beneath him bloomed in his head. Her crying out for him to go deeper.

Fuck. He shifted, trying to hide his growing erection.

Daniel glanced at him, and Bram kept his gaze on the green wall in the kitchen area.

“You’re showing quite a bit, considering this is your first pregnancy. Did your OB-GYN do an ultrasound?”

“Yes. At ten weeks. I told her that the father was tall and big.” Another glance at Bram.

“Blood pressure is good.” Daniel smiled. “When was the last time you ate?”

She licked her lips. “Lunch. I was busy and running late for work. I forgot.”

Bram leaned forward and his chair creaked. She wasn’t looking after herself. He’d change that.

“And I’d say you got a bit of a shock seeing the big guy here,” Daniel said. “So feeling a little dizzy is normal considering. Make sure you eat regularly. With Bram’s genes, I’m guessing this baby will be a good size.”

Bram felt a jolt of shock. Suddenly it hit him that the child growing inside her was from him. He blinked.

“Are you going to find out the sex of the baby?” Daniel asked.

“Um, I’m not sure. I have an ultrasound scheduled in a few days.” She glanced at Bram nervously. “I wasn’t even sure I wanted to find out. I’ll love this baby either way.” Her voice took on a fierce edge.

“Bram, get her some juice, and see if we have any decent snacks left in the kitchen,” Daniel said.

“I’ll get it.” Hex rounded the corner and headed for the fridge, tossing them a smile.
