The man called Shade smiled across the room. “Hex, sneaky hacker goddess, we finally meet in person.”

Hex sniffed. “I thought you’d be taller.”

Addie choked back a laugh. The man was at least six-foot-three. She watched the way the two stared at each other, and suddenly, the room’s temperature seemed to shoot up ten degrees. Interesting.

The handcuffed man made a sound and Shade pulled his gaze off Hex. His expression morphed into something scary. He shoved the man. “Talk.”

Devyn circled in front of the prisoner, Killian beside her.

Now the temperature in the room felt like it dropped a few degrees.

“You know who I am?” Killian asked.

The man swallowed. “Da.”

“And yet, you still attacked my employee,” Killian said in a silky voice. He glanced at Devyn, and his voice lowered more. “And my wife.”

“Wife?” The man’s voice cracked. “We didn’t know! My boss, Nikitin, owed Kozlov a few favors. But the asshole clearly left out some details. Nikitin wouldnevercause trouble with you.”

Killian was silent for a moment. “Luckily, she can take care of herself.”

The Russian swallowed and flicked a glance at Devyn. “Yeah.”

“Where’s Kozlov now?” Killian asked.

“I don’t know! He’s crazy. He’s obsessed with some woman. He used to be solid, steady. A good enforcer. But now all he can talk about is the blonde.” The man flicked a glance at Addie.

Bram put a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t look at her.”

The man jerked his gaze away.

Killian slid his hands in his pockets. Such an ordinary move, but it felt filled with menace.

“You go back to Nikitin, and you tell him that in order to make things right with me, I want to know where Kozlov is, or I want him delivered to me. This woman is under my protection. Her man is eager to make sure Kozlov stops tormenting her and leaves her alone.”

Devyn shifted. “Do as he says, or you’ll regret it.”

The man on his knees swallowed.

Killian smiled. “My wife likes a good fight.” He slid an arm around her. “Now, time for you to go.”

Shade yanked the man to his feet and unfastened the handcuffs.

“You staying?” Killian asked Shade.

The man glanced at Hex. “Yeah, I’m not on anything right now. I think I might enjoy New York’s charms.” Shade dragged the man out.

Bram pulled Addie to her feet. “You need some rest.”

“Especially with twins on board,” Hex added.

Killian’s brows rose. “Twins?”

Exclamations filled the room. Suddenly, Bram and Addie were surrounded by well-wishers. Addie smiled.

“Okay, enough. She needs to rest.” Bram scooped her off her feet and headed for the elevator.

“I can walk, Bram.”
