Soon, the convoy of SUVs was headed to Teterboro airport. When they pulled in, the Sentinel Security jet sat on the tarmac, its pilot, Ric, doing the last-minute flight checks.

“Nice wings, Steel,” Shade said.

“If you want a job, I’ll give you one.” Killian inclined his head at the aircraft. “You can fly in her whenever you need.”

Bram saw Hex pull a face.

Shade just smiled at Killian. “Not quite ready to give up working for Uncle Sam yet.”

Bram got Addie settled on the jet.

“It’s so fancy.” She stroked the cream-leather seat. There was a small, well-stocked galley kitchen, lots of wide armchairs, and touches of glossy wood.

“Addie, I need you to draw up the floor plan of the inside of your parents’ house.” Hex dropped down in the seat across from them with a notepad. “We need to plan.”

Most of the flight was spent going over the plan to infiltrate Addie’s childhood home and rescue her parents.

Bram looked down at a map of Hickory Ridge, noting the location of the house, just out of town.

Kozlov was getting desperate. How far would he go to get to Addie? And what would he do once he realized that she’d never be his?

Bram remembered his helplessness as his mother and Fiona were dragged away from him. He couldn’t stand for the same thing to happen with Addie.

“Bram?”

He looked up and met Killian’s gaze.

“You’re not alone. We’re all in this.” Killian gripped Bram’s shoulder. “We’ll get Addie’s parents back, and keep her safe. We’re with you, every step of the way.”

The tightness in Bram’s chest eased. “Thanks, Killian.”

The other man nodded. “You don’t need to thank me.”

Devyn dropped down beside Bram and gave him a nudge. “We’ve got this, bestie.”

Bram nodded. But he knew he wouldn’t breathe easy until Kozlov was out of action, and Bram finally had Addie safely back in New York.

The jet landed at a private airstrip. The strip was surrounded by trees, and not much else. Three black SUVs were waiting for them.

Hex lifted her gear and headed for the lead vehicle.

Shade followed her down the steps, frowning at her. “Aren’t you staying with the jet?”

“No,” she said tartly. “I need to get the drone in the air, and I need to be close to it.”

Shade crossed his arms. “It’s too dangerous.”

She bared her teeth. “I’ll be staying in the car, James Bond. And if Kozlov comes too close—” she smiled “—I can take care of myself.”

“Everyone load up.” Killian was wearing black cargo pants and a bulletproof tactical vest. They’d all changed on the jet. He gave Addie a nod and headed to the SUVs.

Bram went to Addie. She sat in the large seat on the jet, twisting her hands in her lap. “Bram…”

He leaned down and kissed her. “It’s going to be fine.”

She nodded, but worry lined her face. He knelt down and pressed a kiss to her belly. She cupped his head.

Then he rose and looked at Ric. The pilot stood in the cockpit doorway.
