“He’s alive,” Devyn yelled. “Looks like he took a blow to the head.”

Bram thundered up the steps and ducked inside the aircraft, but he already knew.

It was empty.

He took in the empty chairs and checked the galley.

“Fuck.” He kicked one of the seats. Addie was gone. Kozlov had her. His heartbeat pounded in his ears.

“Bram?” Killian said from the doorway.

“She’s not here. He has her.”

Bram shouldered past his boss and stomped off the jet. Nick and Matteo had taken Addie’s parents to the local hospital, but Hex and Shade stood beside Devyn as the woman treated Ric. Hex had a heavy-duty tablet in her hand and looked distraught. Shade’s face looked grim.

“This was all part of his plan.” Bram pressed his hands to the back of his neck.

He couldn’t lose it. He had to hold it together.

“We’ll find her,” Killian said, voice ringing like steel. “Hex?”

The hacker stepped forward, tapping on her tablet. “The security cameras on the jet were jammed.” Worry lined her face. “We have no recording of what went on here.”

“So, we have no idea what he’s driving, or where he’s heading.” Bram had failed Addie. It was hard to breathe.

A ringing sound made his head jerk up. A cellphone?

They all turned. He strode toward the sound and saw Addie’s phone resting in the grass. He snatched it up.

Had Kozlov tossed it here?

Bram saw her mother was trying to call her. He sucked in a breath. “The phone’s recording.”

Hex smiled. “That’s our girl.” She took the phone, tapped, then played the recording.

“Leave me alone.” Addie’s frightened voice.

Bram closed his eyes. She was trying so hard to be brave.

“I can’t, because you’re mine.”

Fucking Kozlov.

“I’mnot.”

Bram listened to the replay. He heard his clever girl drop the phone without Kozlov noticing. But the man didn’t say where he was taking her.

“It doesn’t help,” Bram said.

“It might.” Shade stepped forward, his hands in his pockets. “He says that he has a home set up. Waiting and ready. That takes time. Where’s he been? Is this place in New York?”

Killian nodded slowly. “Maybe not. Where did Kozlov go after his employment with Mikhailov imploded? He didn’t come straight to New York. There were several months before he started stalking Addie.”

Bram had just figured the asshole was stewing on his obsession. Getting up the courage to act on it.

But maybe he’d been somewhere, putting a house together while his deluded fantasies grew.

“I’ll start digging,” Hex said.
