Bram jerked, and both Devyn and Boone grabbed him.

“I’m not moving,” he gritted out.

He watched Addie stomp to the railing of the deck. She was still in the leggings and shirt she’d worn to Georgia. Her hair was loose, the breeze setting it dancing. He could see she was tense, but also mad.

Despite his frustration, his lips twitched. That’s my girl.

She wasn’t hurt. That was the main thing.

Kozlov came up behind her and touched her hair. She tried to jerk away. The man snapped at her.

Addie went still, her body stiff, and her lips pressed into a flat line.

Kozlov stroked a hand down her arm, and Bram’s fingers tightened on his rifle. Then Kozlov leaned closer, nuzzling his face against her hair.

I will kill you, Kozlov. I promise.

Addie kept her gaze on the surroundings, turning her head until it looked like she was looking right at Bram.

Hold on, sunshine.

CHAPTERSEVENTEEN

“Dinner will be ready soon.” Kozlov looked over at her from the stove and smiled.

Addie didn’t respond. She sat at the table, her hands twisted together. Whatever he was cooking didn’t smell bad, but her stomach was in too many knots to let her eat.

He’d put some wildflowers on the table. Like they were on a date. Like he was trying to woo her, or something.

He was sick. He needed help.

She needed to try and get a message to Bram and the others.

Her gaze fell to Kozlov’s cellphone, resting on the table. Her muscles twitched. If she could only find a way to use his phone. She licked her lips. She could tell Bram where she was, and warn them that Kozlov had the place booby-trapped.

“You’ll like this. It’s calledshchi. Good Russian food. The recipe was my mother’s.” He stirred the pan.

When he glanced at Addie, she managed a nod.

“There is good hunting here. I have lots of meat in the freezer. Deer, elk, rabbit.” There was a knock at the front door, and he scowled. “My men.”

“Go. I’ll be right here.”Because you kidnapped me.

Kozlov wiped his hands and headed for the door. When his back was turned, she snatched the phone. She quickly followed Hex’s instructions for hacking a phone, her hands shaking.

Come on. Focus. She pulled in a breath. There. She’d gotten it open.

Quickly, she tapped in the Sentinel Security emergency number.

Cabin. Lake. Near Anchorage. Two guards. Place booby-trapped with bombs.

She hit send and glanced at the door. Kozlov was still talking to his men.

Come on.Finally, the phone showed the message had sent.

Relief hit her. She deleted any record of the message and set the phone back in place. Damn, the screen was still lit up.

Go back to sleep. She willed the screen to go dark. Her heart punched against her ribs like she’d gone ten rounds with a heavyweight boxer.
