Addie let out a sob.

It was over.

The Sentinel Security team poured out of the trees, including a handsome, rugged man she didn’t recognize, with a huge German Shepherd by his side.

Then Bram strode to her. His hands curled around hers on the ropes.

“Addie? Are you hurt?”

She shook her head. She could see that fear and worry had etched deep grooves into his face.

He slid a hand through the net to cup her cheek. “You’re all right?”

She pressed her cheek into his palm. “I am now.” She smiled at the man she loved. “I knew you’d come.”

“Hold on, Addie.”Bram pulled out his knife. He had to cut her free.

“Bram?”

He met her gaze.

“I’m not afraid anymore,” she said.

His gut clenched. He started sawing through the rope.

“Is she okay?” Killian asked.

“I’m fine.” There were tears in her eyes even though she was smiling. “You all came.”

“We sure did,” Devyn said.

They helped him cut her free of the net and he pulled her out. She stood, then winced.

“What?” He cupped her shoulders.

“I think I sprained my ankle. It’s not—”

He scooped her off her feet. Finally, Addie was in his arms.

Bram felt a ball of pressure in his chest. She was safe. Alive. Breathing. He dropped to the ground, cradling her on his lap.

“I’ve got you.” He rocked her.

“I know.” She wound her arms around him and hugged him back.

That pressure in his chest eased a little. “I’m sorry he got you.”

“Itwasn’tyour fault.” She framed his face. “Bad things happen, Bram. You can’t control every little thing. The important thing is that it’s over.”

He nodded, then pressed a hand over her belly and felt one of the babies kick. He pressed his mouth to hers, savoring the feel of her lips under his.

She made a small sound, and leaned into him, kissing him back.

“Nothing like a happy ending,” Boone murmured.

“I’m not happy,” Shade said. “I’m bleeding.”
