She wasn’t one for praise. “I didn’t do anything the rest of you wouldn’t have.”

Frost bumped her with his shoulder. “No, but you did it in adress.”

“Pretty sure I’ve seen one or two in Ramsey’s closet,” Gunnison shot out to a spattering of laughter. Ramsey flipped him the middle finger.

Once they calmed down, Sparrow settled in to go over the details on the unrest the locals were seeing in Puerto Vallarta, recounting more crimes including some murders and arson. Then he backtracked to how they’d located and rescued Slade. She was pretty sure everyone knew what happened in Mexico already, but she could feel their stares on her during the telling.

She was always proud of her actions. She was damn good at her job, and it drove her to sign her Blackout papers to make a real change in the world. But seeing her teammates’ appreciation made her feel stupidly emotional all of a sudden.

Go away, hormones.

Sparrow swept his gaze to Lena. “The Black Bloods leader is still alive. As is Roderigo, the arms dealer. So there are loose strings, but we’re still monitoring the situation. Also, the authorities are settling things down on their end. Anything you want to add?”

She ran her fingertip over the alcohol pad in her hand. “One thing that might be of importance. You do know Ramon had a son, right?”

Sparrow’s brows angled together. “No. It’s not in the reports.”

“Maybe because he’s in the US.”

Frost leaned forward in his seat, engaging in the discussion. “You didn’t tell us that.”

“I’m telling you now. In the debriefing. Where matters like this are discussed.” Did she sound snappier than usual? Fact was, there was so much on her mind that she hadn’t thought about the detail until now.

“Tell us what you know, Graham.” Sparrow took control of the meeting once more.

“When I met with Ramon, he was in a bit of a hurry. We couldn’t come to an agreement to trade for the hostage.”

At the mention of Slade’s role in the op, Mustang cleared his throat. Lena gave him a side-eye. If he even tried to bring up the fact she’d been married to Slade right now, he’d find a ballpoint pen buried in his nut sack.

He caught her expression and shifted his gaze.

She continued, “We got in Ramon’s car. He was supposed to take me to the arms dealer. And while we were driving, his son called him.”

“An audio call?” Sparrow asked.

“Video.”

“So you saw the kid’s face.”

She nodded. “I tried to appear disinterested in the discussion, but I memorized the details.”

“So you could recognize him.”

“I believe so, yes. He’s in the US, and from what they were saying, he’s attending college somewhere.”

Sparrow nodded to Apollo. “You’ve got the right connections with The Guard to look into that. Find him.”

“On it.” Apollo’s black stare hit hers. “You’ll need to work with the profiler to draw up a sketch.”

“No problem.”

Sparrow gave a nod. “I’ll leave it to you. I’m going to make a call to Commander Barrett and fill him in on this new intel. Anything more to add, Graham?”

Her stomach rolled. “That’s all.”

She couldn’t wait to go find more alcohol prep pads. She might need to break into the supply closet and grab a box if she wanted to make it through the week.

In the hallway, Apollo caught up with her. “You all right, Graham?”
