Page 2 of His Christmas Wish

“Oh, yes. I would,” she says and I hand her the cup.

“What do you mean you can’t get it done in time? This is a Christmas spread? It’s for Christmas. That is the whole point. Ugh, fine.” I hear Ayaka slam down the phone and start muttering in Japanese.

“Hitotsu, hitotsu no shigoto dakenanoni nande owara seru koto ga dekinai no kashira. Shimekiri wa shimekirinanoni..." she rants.

I’ve taken Japanese classes for the last few years, yet I have no idea what she’s ranting about.

I softly knock on the partially opened door, pushing it open.

“Um, Ms. Calloway?”

Ayaka spins around with her hands on her hips. That tight brown suit is showing off her beautiful figure and those heels make her legs look amazing. I had to avert my eyes so as not to get too excited.

“What?” she asks, exasperated.

“I have your coffee and a few documents for you to sign,” I announced.

“Oh, good,” she says and gets her pen. “After that you can fire that prick Winslow and his whole team? He just called me saying that he can’t get everything done for the spread Mr. Fader wanted, so I’m getting rid of him and getting someone new.”

I nod and place the forms on her desk and place her coffee cup on another part of the desk.

Her pen glides on the paper as she signs her name on the forms. She puts the pen down and bends over to get her coffee. As she bends over, I catch the way her skirt clings to her ass as it covers it.

Ah, Jesus, what the fuck, Harry? Stop it!

I shake my head and take the forms she hands me. I take a few steps back with the forms, trying to get more room between her and myself to calm my ardour.

“Is that all?” she asks, while sipping her drink.

“Um, yeah. That’s it.”

“Well, great!” Ayaka smiles and a moment of awkward silence falls upon us in her office.

Ayaka is the one that breaks the silence.

“Soooo, you can go now,” she waves at the door, and I stumble to it, stuttering as I go.

Once I close the door, I lean my body against it, cursing. I close my eyes, wondering how I’ve survived to this point. Lusting after my boss, who probably doesn’t know what colour my eyes are, and can fire me if I told her how I really feel. She can fire me a lot easier and a lot quicker than Winslow and hiswholeteam.

I push off the door and walk to my desk. I have to focus on sending these forms and then fire Winslow. Typically, it would be the boss who fires employees, but the pleasure has been given to me seeing as Ayaka is swamped with other stuff.

The only days she’ll take off, if she agrees not to work, are the holidays.

There’s also the Christmas presents she is going to be giving to some employees, and even personal contacts that she has to get. This all happens on Monday. At the same time she is receiving gifts as well.

Hopefully, it goes well. We’ve been at this for years and the typical song and dance is me accepting the presents while she’s on her phone at work. It’s tempting to snatch her phone away from her so she’s forced to try and connect with people who care enough to bring gifts. I know she has it in her to care. She just needs a reason to want it.

The thing about Ayaka is her brain works on logic. She needs to know why she should care about getting her doorman a gift for Christmas. If she can, then she can do it. The only issue is the reason.

To be honest, I think most of it comes from her workaholic personality. She’s always making deals and working with other workaholics who are only in it for business. I think she sees getting presents as another job for her to do. She doesn’t work with anyone who she doesn’t see as a business benefit to her.

Not this year, though. I want to give her a different perspective and see what happens.

Ayaka is very good at her business. It’s why her company is as successful as it is. She isn’t afraid to stand up to other bigwigs in the business world and she works hard for perfection. The reputation of her company is hard work, perfection, and the fact that it works.

Every company she’s created marketing plans for has seen a giant spike in their business. It’s all due to Ayaka and who she hired, who she takes as a client, and her vision.

As I get to my desk and do my usual work, I think about what I can do differently this year. The thought of taking her phone away comes to mind.
