Weston nodded to him and the others as they went their way and we went ours. Weston’s room was connected to mine this time, so he walked with me down the hallway.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile that big for that long,” Weston said as we stopped in front of my door.

I opened it, turning to face him with said smile on my face. “Can you blame me?”

“Not at all,” he said, leaning against my doorframe and looking down at me. He was grinning too, and it just felt…right. Gone was the awkwardness, the questions, the embarrassment. It was all replaced by this overwhelmingly grateful feeling I couldn’t deny.

“Weston,” I said, biting my bottom lip. “I really don’t know how to thank you.”

He furrowed his brow. “You never have to thank me. You know that.”

“That’s not true,” I said, emotions climbing up my throat. “I really do. This life…you’ve given me a place in this unreal, beautiful, wonderfullife that comes with such an awesome family, and I just don’t know how I’m ever going to repay you.”

“You’ll never have to, Brynn,” he said. “You know that. My life would be shit without you.”

My heart expanded in my chest so big and so wide I wasn’t sure I could contain it.

So, I didn’t. I let it pull me in the exact direction it wanted to go.

I reached up on my tiptoes and kissed him.

I didn’t let my mind try and talk me out of it.

I didn’t stop for a second to worry or analyze.

I just did what my heart begged me to do. Because Iwasgrateful for him, and I wanted to show him.

I pulled back quickly, grinning up at him again. “I just wanted to say thanks.”

His chest rose and dipped, his eyes churning as he stepped closer to me. He snaked one arm around my waist, his hand at my lower back as he backed us into my room, the door shutting and locking behind us.

“Say it again,” he breathed the words.

“Thank you,” I said, my pulse spiking.

His mouth met mine, his kiss stealing my breath as he took control. One hand tunneled in my hair, tipping my head back so he could kiss me at a deeper angle. I fisted his shirt, drawing him closer as he walked us until I hit the dining table in my room.

Weston broke our kiss long enough to heft me up, placing my ass on the edge of that table before reclaiming my mouth. I parted my lips, clinging to him as his tongue swept in against mine. He shifted between my legs, spreading them so he could step between them, and I gasped as he brought our bodies flush.

It was all familiar and exhilarating and yet somehow completely different.

“Is this pretend?” I asked, slipping my fingers beneath his shirt, desperate to feel his skin under my fingertips. He was all smooth skin and hardened muscle and God he felt so good.

“If that’s what you want,” he said, and the declaration sent fire licking down my spine.

“I just want you,” I admitted. “After the other night…I’m aching, Wes.”

“Fuck,” he groaned. “You want me to take care of that for you?” he asked against my lips. He drew away, cradling my face between his powerful hands, looking down at me.

“Please,” I said, the answer coming out of me ragged and raw.

Fire churned in his brown eyes as he held my gaze, shifting one hand away from my face. He dragged his fingers down my neck, over my chest, and lower, until he slid it up my thigh.

I trembled from his touch, and the breath caught in my lungs when he worked his way up to the band of my leggings, moving them until he slipped his hand all the way inside, never once looking away from me.

“Is this where we left off the other night?” he asked, barely touching me over my underwear.

I nodded, everything in my entire world narrowing to where his fingers hovered.
