I snapped the notebook shut, a heavy sense of dread settling over my mind. We’d underestimated her, and now we were in deep shit. I took one last look at her empty room before tucking the notebook under my arm and hurrying out. I was going to read each entry and uncover exactly how much she knew about us.

I met up with Bridge outside Mason’s room just as he’d shut the door behind him.

“What are you two up to?” he asked, eyeing us suspiciously.

Heaviness churned in my chest. “We can’t find Katerina,” I explained, my words tripping over each other. “I think she knows about us and is trying to find proof… I think it’s because of something we did last night.”

“What did you do?” Mason’s brow furrowed, his expression darkening.

Before I could answer, a thump echoed from within his room. My attention swiveled toward the source of the sound.

“Who’s in your room?” Bridge demanded, pushing past him before he could reply, shoving open the door.

The sight that met my eyes almost knocked the wind out of me. There, in Mason’s bed, lay Katerina. She was fast asleep, her chest rising and falling in a peaceful rhythm. The pillow lay on the floor, the likely source of the sound.

The relief that swept over me was quickly replaced with confusion, along with dozens of questions. How did she end up in Mason’s room? What the fuck happened between last night and now?

As I watched her sleep, the corners of her mouth twitching into a small smile, I stepped into the room. Bridge and Mason followed, shutting the door.

“Why’s she in your bed, Mason?” The question tumbled out of my mouth, weighted with accusation. Mason’s room was the last place I’d expected to find Katerina.

Mason ran a hand through his disheveled hair and sighed. “I found her spying in our... private room. She saw everything… the maps, the notes, the photos.”

Bridge froze in his pacing tracks, the blood draining from his face. “She... what?”

Mason ignored him. “I’m not sure how much she heard when I was on the phone, discussing… us being targeted. She passed out before I could find out.”

“You’re saying she fainted?” I asked incredulously, stepping over to the bed where Katerina slept peacefully. “Did she hit her head, or did you do this?”

“Fuck you. I didn’t knock her out. She just passed out from shock,” Mason confessed, then heaved a sharp exhale. “Maybe she got scared and passed out.”

A knot formed in my stomach as I reached out and gently pushed a few stray strands of hair off Katerina’s forehead. Her skin was cool to the touch, but the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest assured me she was okay. Still, I couldn’t shake off the unease creeping into my bones as I studied the contours of her beautiful face, remembering her on her back last night, that gorgeous mouth moaning for more.

Bridge paced the room, wringing his hands.

“Calm the hell down.” Mason fixed him with a steady gaze. “You’re stressing me out.”

Bridge turned to him with wild eyes. “She’s seen our maps, our notes, our... God, Mason! She knows!”

“And whose fault is that?” Mason fired back, the calm in his voice giving way to anger. “What did you two do to her last night?”

I swallowed hard, exchanging glances with Bridge, who sighed, then gave me that look that said,‘fuck it, we got nothing to hide.’

“We planned a little get back after she gave Bridge a blowjob during the family visit,” I explained.

Mason squinted his gaze as though he was trying to remember the incident, which, of course, he wasn’t privy to.

“Remember Bridge had an episode up on the stage? Well, he was getting blown by our little girl here.”

“She did that? Are you certain?” Mason asked incredulously, scratching the side of his head.

“Trust me,” Bridge added. “I was as shocked as you. One minute, I was reading off my speech, then I completely lost it.”

I threw my head back, a deep laugh bursting from me as I remembered Bridge on stage. My shoulders shook, laughter bouncing off the old stonework of the room. I figured the sound might even wake up our girl, so we could finally talk to her.

“Man, Bridge, I can’t even…” I couldn’t finish the sentence, my sides splitting with another round of chuckles. My eyes watered as I tried to picture Bridge’s dumbstruck expression, the way he gripped the podium as if his life depended on it, and his high-pitched voice. A sight I’d have paid good money to see again.

With a slap on the back, I gestured toward Bridge, managing to wheeze out between breaths, “You... you were damn priceless!”
