The thought jolts me out of trance. I have never felt that way about a woman. The instant feeling that she is mine. I’m not even sure where that came from, so I lock it away and walk towards the office door.

With the door open, I wait as Bailey enters and follow her inside. “Right this way,” I grumble as I take the lead in front of her and walk down the hallway to my office.

I completely forgot about this interview today. I wasn’t aware that Marley wanted me to interview Bailey. All she told me when she reached out was that she had a friend that was looking for a new job and that she had excellent office skills. I needed an office manager, so it made sense to see what her friend had to offer.

But now, knowing it’s Bailey, I’m torn. Why does she want to work here? She has a great job at the Vet office where Marley used to work before she got on with the city. Can I concentrate with her here? I’m always quick to leave Marley’s if Bailey is over. There’s something about her that intrigues me, but I don’t act on it, knowing that I’m no good for a woman like her.

“Have a seat,” I announce, directing her to the seat in front of my desk with a wave of my hand.

Bailey takes a seat and crosses her legs. Her bare knee is visible over the desk, and my eyes trail up her body and linger for a moment on her chest. Her tits raise and fall as she takes a deep breath, my eyes instantly shooting up to hers.

“I’m at a loss for words here, Bailey. I wasn’t aware that you would be who I was interviewing.”

“I asked her not to tell you it was me,” she answers as she shifts in her seat. “I wanted to get the job based on my skills and not just because I was your sister’s friend.”

I lean back in my leather executive chair, something that I splurged on when we were designing the garage. I figured if I had to sit in here and do paperwork and other boss like shit, I needed to be comfortable.

“Well, the job entails a lot of paperwork. Aunt Betty handled a lot of it, but she wants to spend more time with my uncle, so I need help. The position is for office manager, so you’ll be expected to run the office, which includes the phone, walk-in customers, calling customers when their cars are ready for pickup, ordering supplies for the office and parts for the garage. Handling payroll and all payments in and out of the garage. Is that something you’re up for?”

“I can handle it,” she replies instantly.

“What about the vet’s office?” I don’t think, no I know she can’t handle this job and the other. What I asking for is a full-time job.

“I’m no longer employed,” she says with sadness in her voice.

“What happened?” I’m sure that I’m crossing some human resource rule about interview etiquette, but I don’t care. I genuinely want to know. Marley has mentioned on many occasions how much Bailey loved working with the animals. I’ve witnessed Bailey’s happiness when she talks about caring for the animals.

“They let me go,” she says softly. I can hear the hurt in her voice, and I want to make it better for her. “It wasn’t anything bad, I guess. Just that when Dr. Mark wanted to retire, he sold the practice to a vet clinic franchise, so they came in and made so changes. Apparently, I was paid too much, and they could get someone else to do it cheaper.”

“So if you can handle to work load here, let’s talk pay.” She sits up taller, a small smile breaking through. The job was hers the minute I realized she was my interviewee. No point in asking a million and one questions. I know she’s a hard worker. I know she can do it, and what she doesn’t know, I have no doubt that she will learn it. “How about twenty-five dollars an hour to start?” She gasps at my numbers and her eyes light up. “The garage is open from seven to six, Monday through Friday. You get an hour lunch, so you can set your schedule within those parameters to make your forty hours. Aunt Betty worked eight to five, and it worked out fine. The guys and I can help the customers on the hours that you are not here. Does that sound okay?”

“It sounds perfect,” she purrs, and instantly I wonder how I can make her sound like that in a different way.

“Well, then it’s official. Welcome aboard, Bailey. See you Monday?” I stand and she follows and meets me at the door.

“Thank you, Micah,” she exclaims, her happiness radiating off her in spades.

“Thank you, Bailey. You’re doing me a favor. The only thing I ask is that you call me Reaper in the shop. I have an image to uphold,” I tell her with a wink.

Her face blushes and I want to see where else she blushes, but I shake my head, trying to remove thoughts of a naked Bailey from my vision.

“Got it! Reaper it is.” She steps out of the office and heads down the hall to the lobby, and I follow, my eyes watching her ass bounce with each step she takes.

“See you on Monday,” she calls as she stops at the door.

“Yeah, Monday,” I reply, my eyes still slowly undressing her in my mind.

“Mic—, I mean Reaper,” she calls and I look up to see her smile and shake her head.

“Yeah?”

“My eyes are up here,” she answers with a chuckle as she walks out the door.

I lean against the wall and smile as I watch her get in her car and leave. How am I going to work side by side with her?Hands to yourself, I think to myself.Hands to yourself.
