But the sound of boots stomping down the hall interrupts our moment and we drift apart. I hop off the desk just as Chains enters the office. His face is a mask of emotions as he takes us in. He gives me a nod, and I know that it’s my time to leave.

“I’ll bring these out after I’ve signed,” Reaper announces, pointing at the documents I came in with.

“Sounds good,” I reply as I walk out and go to my desk.

Time passes quickly once I get back to work and it’s soon time to leave. The guys have been back and forth between Reaper’s office all day, their faces solemn as they walk out, but I keep quiet, knowing that if I need to know, Micah will share the information with me.

I gather my purse and head back to see him before I head out. It’s Friday night and I would like nothing more than to spend the time with him, but I don’t want to seem clingy. I knock on the door frame and peek in. He’s on the phone but waves me in.

“Dante, give me just a second,” he tells the person on the phone and clicks the mute button. “Are you out?”

“Yeah,” I tell him, unsure of how to ask him if we can do something. We’ve spent every day together this week at work, and talked or texted in the evenings.

“I’ll be over at your place in about an hour. Pack some clothes for the weekend. I want to spend it with you.”

Excitement bubbles in my chest. He wants the same thing as me. Maybe he’s ready to go further. I know I am. It should surprise me that I’m ready for the next step with him. It took me six months to be at that point with a man in the past. But with Micah, he had me there before our first kiss.

I’m sure he has never waited this long with someone before, and I’m thankful that he has been considerate of me. But I’m ready, and by the sounds of it, the looks that he’s giving me, he’s there too.

“Okay,” I answer. I mean, what else is there to say? He stands up and I instantly walk over, lifting my face up and waiting for the kiss I know he wants to give me before I leave. I learned real fast he wants my lips anytime we are separating, like he needs a taste of me to keep him going. Turns out, I have that same need too.

“One hour,” he calls as I head out the door. I give him a nod and make my way out. Once in my car, I head home to pack.

* * *

What does one pack for a weekend with her biker man? What are we going to do? Do I need to dress up? I have piles of clothes all over my bed. I don’t know what to pack.

Picking up my phone to call Marley for advice, I throw it back on my bed. Does Marley know? Oh God, will she be mad? Her friendship means so much to me and I haven’t even told her.

Two sharp knocks echo through my apartment. I look down at my phone and see that my hour is up, Micah’s here.

I answer the door, and there he stands, handsome and rugged, smiling down at me. “You ready?”

“I don’t know what to pack?” I lamely explain.

He steps in and closes the door behind him before he pulls me close for a quick kiss. “Let’s see what you got,” he replies. He heads straight to my room, and I should be worried that he knows where he’s going. But it’s a small one bedroom, not to mention Marley lives across the hall and hers is set up exactly like mine.

He stops in front of my bed and looks down at the piles of clothes. He grabs the backpack from the bed and begins to stuff it with the clothes I have laid out. When they are all in the bag, he zips it closed, but stops. “Anything else you need before we leave?”

I guess he approved of the clothes I had picked out. “Just some stuff from the bathroom,” I tell him and head that way. I grab my toiletries and he takes them from me and stuffs them in the bag. I’m usually a bit more careful with my packing, but he seems ready to go. And in all honesty, so am I.

“Okay, let’s head out. I ready to get you home.” He slings the backpack over one shoulder and meets me at the door. We walk out and I get to work locking the door when I hear footsteps coming my way. My eyes meet Marley’s and I stare in shock as her smile gets bigger and bigger.

“Finally,” she drawls out.

Micah pulls me to his side, “You good with this, Bug?”

“So good,” she exclaims. “I’ve been watching you both, thinking that y’all would be good together. But if you’re the reason Bailey’s been lit up like a Christmas Tree this week, then yes, I’m so good with this.”

“Marley,” I whisper. She knows my faults and concerns with men.

“Micah’s got you, Bailey. Let him take care of you.” She tells me, before turning to Micah. “You hurt her. I’ll be looking for you.” Her gangster impression is horrible, and we all laugh. “No honestly, I’m happy.”

“Well, then we’re out. See you for dinner this weekend.” Micah pulls my hand as I stumble over his words. Is he talking about family dinner? The one that they try to have every Sunday?

“See ya’ll then,” Marley replies as we walk down the hall.

“Y’all?” I question to myself.
