“You found it!” she shouts, reaching to pluck it out of my hand, but I pull it back, shaking my head no. “Why can’t I have my ring?”
“I gave this ring to you to signify my promise to you when I came back to Magnolia, but now, I want it to symbolize a new chapter in our lives. Marissa, will you marry me today?”
“Yes,” she whispers, plucking the ring from between my fingers and sliding it onto her finger. “Wait. Did you saytoday?”
“Yeah, about that. I didn’t want to wait too long after you agreed to marry me. So, I arranged our wedding for today in the church.”
“Is that why Campbell told me to stay here? And Sutton and my mom appeared out of nowhere while I was waiting?”
“Yup. And I brought Peyton with me because she can’t keep a secret, so I didn’t tell her till the last minute. Everyone is inside, waiting for us to come in and get ready. The rest of our guests should be here in a couple of hours to celebrate with us.”
“I can, too, keep a secret. I didn’t tell you about the baby,” Peyton says, but quickly clasps her hands over her mouth.
“Baby?” I lean back, pulling Marissa’s body away from mine and checking her stomach before my eyes flick back to hers.
“I took a test this morning.” She narrows her eyes at Peyton over my shoulder before continuing. “I was going to tell you when we were alone, but now is as good a time as any.”
“I told you that you couldn’t keep a secret,” I say to Peyton as we all laugh.
“Thank you, Finn. For loving me so much.”
Tears stream down her cheeks as she cups my face in her small hands and brushes her lips against mine.
“The pleasure is all mine.”
