He was doing crazy things to her. “If they can’t get to my mother, they’ll go after my father or my friends. We can’t protect everyone.”

Judge’s arm tightened around her. “Between my renovation team and Hank Patterson’s Brotherhood Protectors, we sure as hell can.”

“But not forever,” she sighed. “The only way to end this nightmare is to catch or kill Augustus and his subordinate leaders. I can get back to the camp, but I guarantee Augustus won’t be there. As long as he’s alive, he will continue to build his army of assassins. And since you killed Tiberius, he’s out for blood. You won’t be safe as long as Augustus lives.” She laid a hand on his chest. “He won’t give up until someone kills you. If I fail, others will come after me. I wouldn’t be surprised if he sent other assassins at the same time as he tasked me to do the job.” She rolled up onto her elbow. “We need to get out of here.”

“Now?”

She nodded, kissed him briefly and rolled out of the bed, wishing she didn’t have to. How wonderful would it be if she and Judge could spend the entire day in bed together?

Not an option.

She had to get him away from the lodge first.

“We need a place to hide until we can come up with a plan.”

“I sent Brian to Hank Patterson’s ranch for safekeeping. They have an excellent security system there.”

PJ shook her head as she stepped into her panties and drew them up her legs. “That won’t work. He’ll know and get so angry he might go after my family and friends before the forty-eight hours is up.”

Judge stood and dragged her into his arms. “We could stay in a hotel in Bozeman and pick up where we left off.” He nuzzled her neck, trailing kisses across her naked shoulder.

She leaned back into him, loving how good it felt. “Mmm. I love the idea, but I know they’re watching for me and you. As soon as we step out of this lodge, we’re fair game. They might have a sniper waiting to take us down.”

“Then we need a place where we can see anyone coming from miles around,” he suggested, moving his mouth to the other side of her neck, trailing even more kisses along the opposite shoulder.

She moaned and leaned her head to the side, giving him greater access. “You’re not taking me seriously.” PJ fought to maintain focus.

It was so hard.

He was so hard.

His cock pressed into her backside…stiff, insistent.

PJ gathered every ounce of control she could muster and stepped away. “Listen,” she held up a hand when he tried to close the distance between them. “They’re coming. I know this because I know them. Augustus was raging mad about the death of Tiberius. He won’t stop until you’re dead.” She glanced at the open window. “You’re lucky I was the one who came through that open window. We need to get out of here unless you want them to burn this place down trying to get to you.”

Her words seemed to strike a chord in Judge.

His brow furrowed. “I don’t want anyone hurt because they’re after me.”

“Then we need to leave. I’ve already been here too long.” Her lips quirked upward. “I have no regrets as long as we get away from here alive.”

“Got it. We need to get out of here ASAP.”

While Judge dressed, PJ pulled on her clothes, checking through the window as she did.

After sliding into a pair of black jeans and boots, Judge pulled a black long-sleeved T-shirt over his head and topped it with a shoulder holster and a 9-millimeter pistol. He shrugged into a black leather jacket and stretched a black beanie over his head. “Ready?”

She nodded, fully clothed, all in black, just like him. Her heart swelled at the sight of Judge in dark ops mode. He was sexy and positively irresistible. If only they weren’t running for their lives…

He tipped his head toward the window. “Leaving the way you came in?”

She shook her head. “If they watched me enter, they’ll be expecting me to come out that way with you or having killed you. Either way, I’m sure they’re planning on taking me out after they’ve confirmed your death.”

“Why you?”

“You were the one who killed Tiberius,” she said. “I was the one who let you escape, which makes me ultimately responsible for Tiberius’s death. As I said, they would’ve killed me on the spot if Wiley hadn’t reminded them I might be the only one who could get near you.”

Judge hooked his arm around her waist and dragged her up against him. “Lucky for me, Wiley had a good point.” He pressed his lips to hers in a brief kiss. “You know how to bring a dream to life. I’m glad you came to kill me.”
