Liam and Owen glanced at each other as they had a silent conversation.

“Spit it out. This is no time for secrets. If you know something or something has happened, you need to tell me.”

“You’re gonna want to check out Moira’s SUV. And you’re not gonna like it,” Owen stated solemnly and took a swig of his beer.

I’d wondered when the next strike would occur. Moira felt the same. When it was only the two of us, I had no trouble distracting her. But then, we’d been acting all week like a couple of teenagers who couldn’t keep their hands off one another. It was when we were at the club that I had to keep an eye out for her safety and her sanity. The strain was wearing on her, even if she didn’t say it. “Owen, why don’t you show me what you found.” Then to Roman and Liam, I said, “If you’d stay in here and keep an eye out for Moira, I’d appreciate it.”

“We’re on it. She’s covered,” Roman vowed. His gaze shifted and grew serious.

Moira was protected. That was all I could do at this juncture. Tension wound around me as I rose. How bad was this attack? What had the stalker done now? Owen was beside me when I reached her vehicle and swore. All four tires on the SUV had been slashed.

“Fuck.” This was going to freak Moira out. Unholy rage filled me. I wanted to tear the fucker apart with my bare hands. How dare he come anywhere near her.

“My thoughts exactly. We’ll make sure you get home, but—”

“We need to contact Dan. And I have to tell Moira.” I paced in the parking lot and yanked my phone out of my pocket, dialing Dan as I seethed.

“Freemont,” Dan answered.

“It’s Ben. The stalker struck again.” My hands shook I was so furious. This bastard thought he could get away with this, terrorizing my woman. It wasn’t lost on me that I considered her mine.

“That’s strange. My officers haven’t notified me of anything. What happened? Is Moira all right?”

“That’s because your officers are inside the club, not outside it. And Moira’s fine. But her vehicle isn’t. Fucker slashed her tires,” I snarled, aching for someone to hit. Although in my current state, I’d kill them with my bare hands. It would be satisfying as fuck to tear them limb from bloody fucking limb.

“Well, shit. And here I was hoping they decided to move on to other prey.” Dan’s hearty sigh filtered through the receiver. “I’m on my way.”

“We’ll be waiting in the parking lot next to the car.” I hung up. To Owen, I said, “Why don’t you go in and apprise Roman of the full situation. Say nothing to Moira. I’ll handle it.” I noticed how much this was worrying Moira. Would this be the thing that broke her?

Owen saluted me before he took off inside. I surveyed the grounds and area around the vehicle. There was nothing out of the ordinary, no footprints or items left behind. The hairs on the back of my neck stood at attention like I was being watched. I sneered and glanced around. Come at me motherfucker. I’m not a woman you’ve been terrorizing. I’m a motherfucking SEAL and eat assholes like you for breakfast, barely breaking a sweat.

The different styles of attack concerned me because there was no discernible pattern. The attacks were almost more of a nuisance and were almost childish in style. If, and that was a big if, they really wanted to harm Moira, why hadn’t they gone after Moira directly? It didn’t make sense, the scope and variety of the attacks, along with the timing of each one.

But it also meant they were here tonight. That they were most likely in the club right now. If it were up to me, I’d barricade the door and not allow a single person to leave until we located the son of a bitch.

“Hey, what’s going on out here? What the fuck?” a male voice shouted, his heavy stomps approach.

Turning around, I held up my hands. It was Bruno. The guy had more than half a foot on me and easily outweighed me by more than fifty pounds. “Bruno, it’s Ben. I’m waiting for the police to arrive.”

“You do this?”

Was this guy serious? I scowled. “Dude, if I had, do you really think I would stick around and call the police to come investigate?” My voice dripped with sarcasm. And Bruno’s expression turned savage. I almost said fuck it. If the dude wanted to throw down, I’d show him why you don’t fuck with a goddamn SEAL. “What I need, and am sure the police are going to want as soon as they arrive here shortly, is the camera security footage from today.” I jerked my chin toward the video cameras stationed by the front door. I prayed they had caught the stalker on video.

“Shit. Does Moira know about this?”

“Not yet. And I’d rather not freak her out more than she already is. If you could keep this quiet—”

Bruno shifted, shaking his head, “I can’t do that. Moira’s the reason I can take care of my mom and I’m not on the streets. I owe her everything. While I appreciate what you’re trying to do, I can’t lie to her.”

Shit. This was going to get ugly fast. “Okay, if you could wait until I talk to her. Let’s get the police here first and investigating this incident. Then I’ll head in and pull Moira aside and explain what happened. Deal?”

Bruno appeared conflicted. I appreciated his loyalty to his boss. Truly I did. But Moira needed gentle hands. But he finally caved and replied, “Fine. But only until the police arrive. And if she finds out on her own before that, there’s nothing I can do.”

“Did you see anything?” I asked because he was the security guard on door duty tonight.

“Fuck, I wish. But no, I didn’t see a thing. I’ve been telling Moira we need better monitoring at the front. We need more cameras in the parking lot. In fact, I think we need an extra guard whose job it is to monitor the camera security feed.”

I agreed with him on that front. If there was nothing else I did while I was here, I would make sure her security was top-notch. “I’ll talk to her about it.”
