He’d been more overwhelmed and aroused and embarrassed with every comment, but now that Elio was threatening to stop, it was like losing the sun.

He finally managed one confusing, tangled word. “No…”

Chapter 2

Elio

“No?” Elio asked, not quite understanding.

He usually wouldn’t have flirted with some guy he just met at a campsite—James was totally his physical type, but his preferences were quite specific—but the sexy older man had been watching him like a kid outside a toy store. A quick tumble in the woods could have been fun.

But he knew a dismissal when he heard one.

Not that he thought James was toying with him. He might have been pissed if someone else had eyed him like a piece of meat and then turned him down, but he got the sense that James was truly just confused.

Not surprising for a gay or bi guy with two kids and a recent divorce from a woman.

Elio had long ago sworn off closet cases. But a baby gay—maybe especially a shy silver fox just figuring himself out—that he could get behind.

Hopefully very literally.

He gave James a chance to find his words. That blush was just adorable.

“Uh… I mean.” James looked around. He walked with the confidence of someone who was comfortable with his body and his position in life. His hair was neatly trimmed with that delicious touch of gray at the temples, his khakis and polo shirt more fit for an office than the woods. From his deep brown eyes and the firm set of his mouth, he looked like a man who was used to being in charge.

And right now he seemed completely lost. “I’m just not quite sure what to do.”

Oh, Elio could definitely work with that. He took a few steps closer, noting that even if the kids came back or someone looked their way, the car would still be hiding them. That should help James feel more secure.

“I could help you figure it out,” he purred. He took another step closer, and another.

James turned to face him, which meant Elio was practically pinning him to the side of the car. Elio liked that. Especially when James’s lips fell open, breath spilling out in rapid puffs. “Are you sure?”

“Oh, I’m very sure.” There was less than an inch between them now. “James, have you ever kissed a man?”

James shook his head, then nodded.

“Well, which is it?” Their chests brushed.

“I, uh, one guy kissed me in college. But it was over too quickly for me to kiss him back.”

Poor baby. “Want to give it another try?”

There was a long pause. Then another nod with a hesitant, hopeful smile. Elio would have loved to know what was going on in his head.

Elio cupped his cheeks, taking his time to explore the rough scruff that was just starting to grow in. He ran his thumbs over those thin, pink lips. James’s eyelids fell shut.

They didn’t know each other well enough for this to be romantic, but it could still be special.

Elio started gently. A brush of the lips. The mingling of shared breath.

James was like a fine wine, meant to be savored.

And just as addictive. His eyes were closed, his body quivering with desire at each soft press of their lips.

Elio went in for another taste, teasing at his mouth until James let him in. James was hesitant, almost passive, letting himself be kissed instead of kissing back.

Despite his rapid breaths, his arms dangled at his side. Was this too much for him? Had his busy mind floated away, overwhelmed by everything that this implied?
