I flit my gaze toward the driver—and melt into a pile of warm fuzzies.

Leaf… is here. I’m tempted to throw my briefcase to the ground, lose all inhibition, and leap into the passenger seat.

And yet—why is he here? I’m not an idiot. I know that the soonest we’re supposed to see each other is this coming Friday.

My eyebrows stitch. "I’d love to know what you’re doing here."

It’s still Tuesday. I’ve been diligently working with Green Tom Thumb all afternoon, contacting various businesses in our portfolio, and delivering eco-friendly pitches. I’ve been making sure to let them know that going green will boost their revenue, which will in turn stop competitors from shorting our shares—that’s the only way to get corporate executives to listen.

I stop myself from tacking Daddy onto the end of my sentence in the nick of time. My coworkers are flooding past me, heading to the bar three blocks down to drink. Most nights, I join them—drinks with the business bros and gals is a networking necessity.

Leaf throws open the passenger seat door. "Can’t wait a second longer. Need you in my flat—my life. Get your ass in the car."

I obey him. God knows why, but I tiptoe toward the sports car, unsure if this is a dream or not.

Before I enter, I stop to take Leaf in. He dons a tailored suit that must’ve cost thousands of dollars. His dark hair is slicked back, and the watch on his left wrist contains diamonds. The smell of leather and a fragrance…. orange peel? I can’t tell—enters my nose, filling me with need.

"Three more days until Friday." I furrow my brow.

Leaf’s eyes turn to slits. "If you don't accompany me to my flat this instant, I’ll go crazy. Insane. I’ll find some motherfucker in a convertible and challenge him to a drag race down Fifth Avenue. Get in—you’ll be saving my life."

Tears of pure need prick my eyes. Sliding into the passenger seat, I turn to Leaf with affection in my heart.

"You want me to move in with you?" Butterflies that the wind swoops into the clouds aren’t as breathless as me.

"Yes." Leaf takes my hand in his. "Now. Tonight. I’ll give you stuffies and blankets—everything your Little heart desires. I’ll prepare you breakfast every morning and read you to sleep at night. Nothing—not a damn thing—will come between us."

A single tear falls down my left cheek. "Oh, Leaf."

"Not Leaf." He stares dead into my eyes. "Daddy."

He presses his foot on the gas, and his car thrums to life. In seconds, we’re racing through the streets of Manhattan, swerving in and out of traffic like two heroes in an action movie.

I throw my head back, letting the wind whip my face, and do what it likes to my hair.

When Leaf finds a secluded spot outside the city with a view of the Hudson, he turns to me—then crushes his lips to mine.

"Kiss me, beautiful boy," Leaf whispers into my mouth, greedily, desperately, unable to stave off his love for me.

Pure, unpasteurized bliss bubbles up within me—bliss that only boys who’ve met their forever Daddies feel.

As I swirl my tongue around Leaf’s mouth, or rather, spread my lips so he swirls his possessive tongue around mine, I think that, it may have taken longer than I expected, but I finally found what I was searching for.

A Daddy. I have a Daddy.

And—he’s mine. His heart is mine, his body is mine, and of course, his soul.

Leaf fumbles in the center console, then slides a gift on my lap. "This is for you."

I lift the present, my vision blurring as I peel back the wrapping paper. "Give me a hint what it is."

"Open it and see."

At last, I manage to fumble the dang box open—imagine my surprise when I see a rock candy ring.

Leaf takes the ring, then slides it onto my ring finger. "This is a commitment I’m making to you to be the Daddy of your dreams. Never shall I raise my voice at you, neglect your needs, or relegate you to second place in my life like your ex-Daddy did. Instead, you’ll be the centerpiece—my sweet Little. This ring represents my feelings for you—I'd love to eat you up. Lick every inch of you. And I will. Each and every night. And also fill your life with love."

I crush my lips to his. This is better than I ever expected.

Leaf claimed me in the sweetest way possible. A candy ring. One that fits perfectly on my finger, one I’ll treasure until I get hungry at work and eat it—and then he’ll replace it with a real ring.

"There’s one thing you haven’t done yet." I lift my gaze to his.

"What’s that?"

"I’d love to meet your family."

These are our biggest wounds. I wanted to meet Daddy Thomas’s mother and father, but he didn’t want me anywhere near them. In the same vein, Leaf wanted to introduce Damien to his parents, but Damien said no.

Leaf nibbles my lower lip. "What do you think we’re doing this weekend, silly boy?"
