Part of the ceiling is raised higher than the rest. The six-inch recess is lined with glass, which during the day will allow light to pour into the room. There’s a patio door on the end wall, which Tanner opens and gestures for me to go through.

“Woah,” I say as he turns on the outdoor lights, revealing a long, wide roof terrace. “There must be as much space out here as there is inside.”

He laughs. “Almost. It’s why I bought this apartment.”

I stare at him with wide eyes. “You own this?”

“Yes. Not bad for a dumb jock, huh?”

I fold my arms. “I never called you a dumb jock.”

“I know.” He puts his hands on my hips and kisses my forehead. “Just your big jock.”

“Well, you were.” And however crazy it might be, considering we’ve only just reconnected, I want him to be my big jock again.

He’s put a table and chairs, two deck chairs, and a corner sofa on the roof terrace. There are also a couple of plastic storage benches, which I assume house the things he needs to maintain the planters that are dotted around on the pale flagstones.

“I didn’t know you had a green thumb,” I say.

Tanner shrugs. “I got into gardening after I moved in here. The first time Mum visited, she said it was nice but needed brightening up with flowers. So that’s what I did.”

“They’re beautiful.”

He guides me to the edge of the terrace, which is surrounded by a chest-high glass fence. He puts one hand around my shoulders and points with the other. “That’s Twickenham Stoop. It’s our home ground.”

“Wow. Is that where you train as well?”

“No. We train at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, but I like being able to see the stadium from my bedroom window. It keeps me focused on my goals.” He bends down and kisses my neck. “Let’s go inside.”

Tanner leaves the patio door open and sits on the sofa. He takes my hand and pulls me onto his lap. “I need to know what your safewords are, boy.”

Although I liked it when he called me sweet thing at the restaurant, calling me boy sends a thrill through me. I quiver in his strong embrace as my pulse increases.

“Apple, banana, and cherry.”

“You don’t like cherries,” Tanner recalls.

“Exactly. Why else would I say cherry other than to let you know I need whatever we’re doing to stop, Daddy?”

Tanner chuckles. “Fair enough. They’re easy enough to remember.”

I yelp as he lifts me into his arms, lays me on the sofa, and leans over me with one knee between my legs. I stare at him, chest heaving with anticipation. He lowers his face and kisses me. It’s soft and gentle but long. He strokes my face, tickling his fingers back and forth over my cheekbone. His tongue slips into my mouth and caresses mine. Yes, this is perfect. This is what I was talking about over dinner when I said I wanted a Daddy who was masterful.

“Are we done talking, Daddy?” I ask once the kiss is over. I’m a little breathless, and the skin around my mouth is tingling. I suspect I have a beard rash now.

“Not quite.” He kisses my throat.

“What else do we need to talk about, Daddy?”

“You mentioned being a cum slut.”

I forget to breathe. “Yes. I am. But—”

“I get tested by the club regularly,” he says. “Accidents happen in rugby. There can be a lot of blood. I tested negative a week ago, and I haven’t slept with anyone since.” He cups my jaw. “Not that I make a habit of going bareback with guys I’ve just met.”

“Nor do I,” I whisper. “I normally wait.” But I don’t want to. “It’s not as if we’re strangers.”

Tanner smiles. “No, we’re not.”
