Because he was worth the wait.

Worthy of everything.

Deserving of all of me.

I lifted my chin to give him my mouth.

The perfection of his body covering me, his tongue worshipping mine.

My hips rocked.

I couldn’t get close enough. I needed to feel him.

Lifting, he nudged my legs open with his knee, then aligned himself over my centre, letting me feel his need for me.

Exquisite bliss.

My head fell back. “Ares…”

He dragged his lips over my throat, his body tightly coiled. Ready to unleash.

I needed more words.

It was getting harder to think, his mouth and hands and body annihilating my fear.

“I’m sorry if I overstepped. I wanted to give you and Inky a home, not just a house.” I ran my hands up and down his back, ready now to give myself over to the perfection of us.

A frozen beat, then his mouth came down on mine, a rough moan in his throat, before he dragged his mouth away.

Cupping the back of my head, he fisted my hair and sought my eyes. His dark eyes intent, hips rolling, body trembling, he lay it out for me. “You can do anything you want to the house so long as you’re in it. Everything you touch is magic. You’re my home.”

I nodded, met his eyes, answered his unspoken question. “Yes.”

“Tomorrow,” he grunted.

“Tomorrow,” I agreed. I wrapped my legs around his hips. Needing more, needing all of him.

“Love me,” I begged.

He reared back and ripped my trackpants down my legs, the filmy negligee the only thing left between us, then pushed his trackpants down to his thighs.

“I do, Hope. I always will.”

His every breath a promise to love me, cherish me with everything he is and has, he inched inside me until our bodies lay flush.

“Finally,” I sighed, replete. “Finally.”

Joined with him.

Tethered to us.

Home.

He rested his forehead on mine and began to move. Slow and easy, his mouth gentle, hands reverent. Breathing my air. Stealing my breath. Giving me his.

“You won’t leave again,” I stated, needing to hear it one more time even if I had to be the one to say it.

He shook his head, his promise in his eyes. “I won’t leave you again. I’ll tell you everything so you can believe,” he whispered. “I’ll tell you every day in every way until you believe.”
