I touched her left arm. “Hey, look at me.”

Fiona looked up at me.

I blamed the heart flutter feeling I got on the excitement of the night.

“I’m here,” she whispered.

“Mr. Hotcock?” I asked with a grin.

Fiona smiled ear to ear and blushed just a little.

She shrugged her shoulders. “I’m not an idiot. Riff. As much as I shouldn’t admit it, I can navigate sneaking around and tell a few lies here and there to get what I want.”

“That’s the name you chose for me,” I said.

“Well, the other one wouldn’t have fit.”

“What other one?”

“Mr. Greatest-Sex-Of-My-Entire-Life.”

“Oh, I’m sure I can get that to fit in your phone. Let me try.”

She threw her left hand out and pushed at my chest. “Back off, Griffin. You’ve caused enough trouble tonight.”

“Me?” I yelled. “I didn’t cause any trouble. I was setup by my own hockey team.”

“What?”

I told Fiona about Abel and how he wanted all of us to go out to dinner but then bailed, to purposely leave Remi and I alone.

“I guess I was sort of in the same boat,” Fiona said.

She then told me how she bumped into Mari and panicked, then called Remi and invited herself out without thinking to ask if anyone else would be there.

Meanwhile, her left hand did not leave my chest.

I casually reached for her hips and pulled her toward me.

“Fi, how did you…?”

“How did I get here?”

“Yes.”

She swallowed hard. “I told him I was staying at a hotel. And we went to that hotel.”

“You went to a hotel?”

Fiona smirked. “Yeah. He followed me. Just to make sure I got there safely.”

“How…”

“I’ve got it covered, Riff.”

“Can you tell me?”

Fiona sighed. “I knew he was going to be an ass about everything. So I went in through the lobby and cut right to the bar area. I offered to buy him a drink, telling him I wanted the night to end on a good note. No offense to you, Riff, but I kind of used you.”
