“You can’t do a thing to me. You don’t know where to go.”

“Riff, listen to me carefully. I’ll throw you out of this car and take your phone. I’ll find the message. Got it?”

“You really want to scroll through messages between Fiona and I?” I asked.

I playfully cringed.

Remi’s face turned bright red.

Then something suddenly clicked in his mind.

“Wait a second,” he said.

“What?”

“That night…”

“What night?”

Remi stared forward and rubbed his chin.

He took a loud, audible breath.

“What?” I asked.

“You fucking asshole,” he said. “The two of you. You both played me. I even sensed it for a second too.”

“What are you talking about?”

“I sensed something happening. It was too weird. But I talked myself out of it.” Remi looked at me again. “What did she have you in her phone as?Mr. Goodcock?Something like that?”

My heart sank a little.

The color exited my face.

“Oh,” I said.

“You and my sister were texting each other with me in between you two,” Remi said. “All that nasty stuff. That was from you. Sitting next to me. Texting her. Right in front of me.”

“Yeah, that was me,” I confessed.

“You…”

“What? We were having fun. That’s all. And if you want to know the truth, it was her idea.”

“Don’t tell me that.”

“Too late. Your sister has a lot of wild ideas and fantasies.”

“Stop talking!”

Remi covered his ears.

Which was actually kind of funny to see.

Laughing at Remi was never a good idea.

As I drove, he reached across the seat and grabbed the front of my shirt.
