Chapter Fifteen

FIONA

What the hell is his problem?

I had been having such a wonderful day to myself.

Getting exactly what I needed and what I wanted.

Not for a second did the thought of painting again come to me until Demi demanded I collect some supplies from her studio. She didn’t want a dime for anything. All I had to do was promise her I would paint and show it to her.

And now?

I had Riff acting like a woman on her period.

In fact, I wasn’t even sure I was that evil when I had my period.

He ran out of his own condo? Mad at me over painting?

See, if this were any other person or situation, I’d let Riff cool off and come talk to me later.

But since it was Riff…

I put my paintbrush down and ran after him.

I tore open the door and Riff stood in the hallway.

I stopped and pulled the door shut.

He looked back at me.

He made some kind of scoffing sound and started to walk away again.

Scoffing at me? You…

“Asshole,” I called out. “You’re an asshole, Griffin. What the hell is your problem?”

“There is nothing wrong with me,” he said. “Just go back inside and hide.” He looked back at me. “That was the plan. Right? That’s what you sold to me.”

“You’re really mad because I went outside? What did you think I was going to do? Become some kind of hermit and never go outside again?”

“I don’t really know, Fi. Everything happened quickly. And naked.”

I fake gasped. “Oh, forgive me for wanting to have some fun! I never met someone who didn’t appreciate me being naked!”

“That’s great to hear, Fi. You face a problem and just get naked. Must be nice to be you.”

“Fuck off,” I shouted. “You’re acting like a baby. Just tell me what’s got you all twisted up, Riff. Is it because I moved stuff around? Is it the music? Is it the paint itself? Do you think I’ll get some on the floor or something? Talk to me.”

His jaw tightened.

He was holding back.

Hiding from me.

Yet standing in the hallway to his condo, yelling at me.

Just as I was yelling at him.
