“I haven’t heard from him until today,” she said.
“He’s going to stop by, isn’t he?”
“According to him, it’s his building. He will do whatever he wants.”
“I hate this man,” I said. “I should just get a lawyer and sue him. Move this practice somewhere else.”
“Can I help pick out a place?” Bethany asked.
“You relax,” I said.
I went back into my office and sat down behind my desk.
Great. Herbert is going to show up again. For no good reason other than to annoy me.
Speaking of annoying me…

I shook my head.
I could text him.

Hey Joe - it’s Anna.
I paused.
I deleted my name.
I deleted the entire text.
I started over.
Hey Joe – it’s Dr. Autumn.
My nose wrinkled up as I cringed.
Dr. Autumn? He’ll probably think I’m flirting. Or he’ll know I’m trying to pretend like nothing happened between us and he’ll call it out. He’ll make things worse.
I tried again.
