Not even a few seconds later Joe opened the door.
Bethany popped right up, grinning ear to ear.
Her eyes grew wide.
She glanced at me for a second.
“Joe,” I said. “Right on time.”
“I guess you could say he always knows the right time to come?” Bethany asked.
Joe let out a chuckle that shook the windows.
I gasped. “Bethany.”
“Sorry,” she said. “I was just having a little fun. Lighten up the mood here. I guess I’ll take a walk too?”
“Why do that?” I asked.
“Really?” Bethany whispered.
“What?” I whispered back.
Bethany leaned a little closer to me. “You know, I understand privacy and all… but the walls aren’t made of steel. Muffled voices is one thing. But… you know… groans…”
I looked right at Joe.
You bastard. You made me moan with pleasure so loud Bethany heard us!
I had no response.
No easy excuse floating around in my head.
“Yeah, I’m going to take a walk,” Bethany said. “Use up my lunch break. Or just take the rest of the day off. Whatever you two need. Or prefer. I mean, you know, good luck.” Bethany walked toward the door and paused when she was next to Joe. She made a fist and punched him in the right arm. “Go get her, tiger.”
My face blushed uncontrollably.
When Bethany was gone, I motioned toward my office.
Joe walked inside and I shut the door behind me.
Without hesitation, he spun around and swept me up off my feet for a kiss.
His lips crashed to mine with satisfying pleasure.
But I had to wiggle away.
I pushed at his chest.
I wiped my lips.
“Joe. No.”
“No? Why? Because of Bethany? She’s not here.”
“It’s not that. We have to get serious here. We have to be serious in this office. Okay?”
“Yeah, sure,” Joe said. He showed his hands. “No worries. I just thought… you know… the fantasy…”
