“Listen to me,” Bobby said. “This is all smoothed out now, okay? Just keep going with what you’re doing.”
“Do you ever talk about anything but money?” Anna asked Bobby.
“I’m sorry. You almost cost me a ton of money.”
“Fair enough,” Anna said with a devilish grin.
“Bobby,” I said. “Just enjoy the night. Okay? Everything is fine.”
I looked at Anna and winked.
Everything is fine.
It was.
Anna and Ellen had a closed door discussion.
I walked Anna to that door and she was terrified about what was going to happen next.
She never told me what she and Ellen discussed.
But here’s what happened next.
Steven disappeared.
Not in the sense of a mob thing.
He disappeared from our lives.
Charges were dropped.
All legal stuff went away.
Anna’s reputation wasn’t pulled through the mud too much.
Social media was mean, but that’s just what social media does.
Anna didn’t lose a single client either when she opened her new office.
A small place right next to the beach.
It was expensive, but the landlord left her alone.
In fact, it was a company that owned the building.
She would never have to deal with a guy like Herbert ever again.
Speaking of which…
Herbert turned Anna’s old office into some healthy frozen yogurt store.
Apparently he got suckered into some kind of franchise thing.
He put down a lot of money and ended up getting screwed over by everyone involved, leaving him to carry the bag, the costs… and he was the only employee at the place.
Which mean if anyone needed a good laugh, they could walk into the store and find Herbert standing behind a counter in a blue and white pinstriped uniform, greeting them withtoday’s lucky flavor!
Bethany always went in there for fun.
