“Joe,” she said.
She lowered her hands and pressed at my chest.
I didn’t want to do it but I let her go.
It was like a wave of reality smacked her across the face.

“I better get going,” she whispered. “There was a reason why I wanted to meet you tonight.”
“Why’s that?”
Anna reached into her pocket and handed me a card.
“That’s the name of someone to call to talk to,” she said. “Okay?”
“So you’re not my doctor anymore?”
She took a deep breath. “Joe. It was really good to see you again. I mean that.”
“Anna…”
She stepped back.
A few steps.
She blinked fast. Swallowed hard.
Then she said, “I can never see you again, Joe.”

I pickedup the neon green thong from my drawer and smiled at my reflection in the mirror.
My drunk eyes agreed with my drunk mind.
Put it on. You know you want to put it on.
“Of course I want to put it on,” I whispered to my reflection.
I reached out to the mirror and tried toboopmy own nose but ended up making a smear mark.
