“Is there a dartboard there?”
“No. But I can make one out of these two guys’ faces.”
“Joe, stop it,” Anna said. “Text me where you are.”
The call went dead.
I smirked.
This was not a good idea at all.
For Anna. For me.
For both of us together.
“Tie game!” Ralphie cried out. “Hey, buddy, your hockey team scored. Tie game.”
I looked back at Ralphie.
You’re not my friend… buddy…
I went back to my spot at the bar.
I texted Anna the address to the bar.
Then I waited.
My mind full of thoughts.
Only two really mattered though to me.
If Anna really was single… and if she was not being taken care of sexually…
Chapter Eighteen
ANNA
I placedmy phone next to me on the bed and I folded my hands.
I gazed around the hotel room and swallowed hard.
This is what I’ve become.
Effectively right now, living in a hotel room.
For a night. Or a few. Or something.
It wasn’t a forever thing.
No use in looking for a place to live when I had to go on this hockey road trip with Joe and theSOLA Empire.
Aside from that, I couldn’t believe Joe called me.
From a bar.
His voice not drunk.
Very sober.
