My blood runs cold at his words. They were going to use Sadie and then kill her, just to get to us. Tome.Fury floods my veins, and I want nothing more than to end Viper’s life right here, right now. But I need more information. I need to know how to protect Sadie from these bastards.

“How many of you are there in town right now? And who’s the one pulling the strings? You?” I don’t loosen my grip on his throat.

Viper’s eyes dart around the room, searching for a way out, but he knows there’s none. “There’s... there’s about twenty of us,” he gasps, his voice barely a whisper. “And... and our prez... he’s the one who came up with the plan. He’s the one who wants your girl dead.”

I lean in closer. “Tell me where he is, and I’ll let you live, you pathetic piece of shit—and only because you’re such a sad excuse for a VP that I know you don’t pose a threat.”

Viper hesitates for a moment before his resolve crumbles. “His name is... is Raptor,” he stammers, tears streaming down his face. “He’s ruthless, man. You don’t want to fuck with him.”

I release my grip on his throat, my heart pounding with the knowledge that someone has specifically targeted Sadie. I know that I have to act fast and eliminate this threat before it can harm her.

Viper’s expression shifts from terror to smugness as he realizes that I’m not going to kill him. He must think I’m too afraid to do it, but that’s not the case. I need him alive for now because there’s still so much I don’t know about my family’s murder, and as the Serpents’ VP, he’ll have the answers I need. But right now, my main concern is Sadie’s safety. I can’t afford to focus on anything else, and I don’t want to spend an extra second away from her.

“Don’t mistake my restraint for mercy,” I warn him, my voice icy. “If you or any of your filthy snakes so much as breathe in Sadie’s direction, I won’t hesitate to end you all.”

Viper’s smugness quickly fades, replaced by a mix of fear and hatred. But I don’t have time to waste on him. I need to get back to Sadie and make sure she’s safe. There’s no telling what the Iron Serpents might try to do next, and Viper’s old lady has probably already told them I’m here.

With one last threatening look at Viper, I leave the trailer, my mind racing with everything I’ve learned. The Iron Serpents are more dangerous to Sadie than I initially thought, and I can’t afford to underestimate them.

As I climb onto my bike and speed off, I fight back a wave of panic. I know that I’ve chosen a dangerous path, one that puts Sadie at risk, but I can’t turn back now. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe and bring down those who threaten her, no matter the cost.

CHAPTER10

Sadie

Slash burststhrough the motel room door, his face flushed and his eyes wild. I can tell that something is very wrong just by looking at him. I jump up from the bed, my heart pounding, and rush to his side.

“What happened?” I ask, my voice shaking with concern.

He runs his fingers through his hair, his breathing ragged. I can see the anger and frustration in his eyes, and it scares me.

“Give me a sec,” he mutters, pulling out his phone and typing out a text message. I can’t see who he’s texting, but I assume it must be Brick or another member of the Reapers. Once he’s sent the message, he looks at me, his face softening with guilt and pain.

“Sadie, I have to tell you something,” he says, taking my hands in his. “It turns out this other club, the Iron Serpents, were behind all of this. They sent that guy here to plant a listening device in my room. They knew I would intervene when I heard the gunshot.”

My heart drops into my stomach, and I feel sick. “But why?” I manage to choke out. “What do they want with us?”

Slash hesitates, looking like he’s struggling to find the right words. “They wanted to hurt you to punish me,” he admits, his voice cracking. “To scare me off. I’m so sorry, Sadie. I never meant for any of this to happen.”

I can see the self-loathing in his eyes, and it breaks my heart. I know that he blames himself for everything that’s happened, even though it’s not his fault. But now isn’t the time for recrimination. We need to focus on staying safe and figuring out how to deal with the Iron Serpents.

Slash looks down at our intertwined hands, his expression filled with sorrow. “You shouldn’t be with me, Sadie,” he murmurs. “I’m dangerous. I’ll only get you hurt. I alreadyhave.”

His words pierce my heart, but I refuse to let them sway me. I know the man he is beneath the rough exterior, and I won’t let him push me away because of his guilt.

“No,” I say firmly, lifting his chin to meet my gaze. “I’m not going anywhere, Slash. We’re in this together, and I’m not going to let you face this alone. You’re stronger than you think, and so am I. So let’s focus on what’s important.”

He looks at me for a long moment, his eyes searching mine as if he’s trying to find any hint of doubt or hesitation. He doesn’t seem entirely convinced, but something in his eyes shifts, and I can see desire overcoming his doubts—at least for now.

He takes my face in his hands and kisses me, hard and slow, his tongue moving against mine and sending heat rushing low in my belly. He pushes me gently so I’m sitting on the edge of the bed, then drops to his knees. “Lie back,” he demands, and when I obey, he pulls me forward and hooks my legs over his shoulders.

He looks up at me, his gaze hungry and intense. His fingers trace my inner thighs and I moan as he dives between them. He pushes my dress up and tugs my panties to the side, baring my skin to the cool air of the room. I gasp when I feel his tongue, a fiery brand that sends sparks of pleasure coursing through my body.

I run my hands through his hair, pulling him closer as the sensations overwhelm me. He circles my clit again and again, flicking it with his tongue with every pass, and when I’m writhing beneath him, he slides his hands up to my breasts. I undo the top buttons of my dress to give him access, and he slides his fingers under my bra and finds my nipples, rolling them gently in time with his tongue.

A sudden knock on the door startles us—well, it startlesme. Slash calls out, “Fuck off!” and the sound is muffled between my legs. I stifle a giggle. “It’s me.” When I heard Brick’s voice, I scramble to a sitting position and button my dress with a mix of embarrassment and lingering passion. Slash sighs, running a hand through his hair. “I’ll be right back,” he says. “I should talk to him privately.”

I frown, crossing my arms over my chest. “No, Slash. If this is about my safety, then I want to be part of the discussion. I won’t be kept in the dark or treated like a child.”
