“No, but you’ve never disappeared either.”

Anger simmers deep in my gut. This conversation is pissing me off, but I need Frank to shoot straight with me if we plan to work together. He can’t be timid or shy. I need a business partner that’s got a fucking backbone.

“You act like I haven’t handled business.”

“Who is she? Kathy or someone else?”

My eyes dart around before settling on a curious Aurora. “Why are you asking?”

“Because you’re not giving me what I want. You’re the thinktank of this organization, and I handle the numbers. But you’ve been MIA and fucking off. And I hope she’s worth it.”

“Nothing’s changed.”I assure him. “When’s our next meeting?”

“At the usual time.”

I glance at my watch, that gives me a few hours. “I’ll be there.”

“Right.” His dry tone is loud and clear.

I disconnect the call staring at my phone for a few seconds. I’ve spent more time at the house and investigating this shit between Vulcan and Jeff. But my preoccupation with Aurora and her safety is costing me more than time. It could cost me a valuable business partner and a friend.

I'm pissed that he’s right about me being distracted and relieved that he doesn’t know Aurora’s identity. No one can know she’s with me until I find Jeff’s location. I know he’s not dead because dead men can’t pay off debts. But I’m not ready to disclose her whereabouts until I know what I’m up against.

“Who is Kathy?” Her voice pulls me from my thoughts, and there’s a hint of jealousy in her eyes.

“A woman at the club.”

“You have a girlfriend?” Aurora’s eyes are fixed on me as she takes a long sip of her wine.

“No. Nothing like that.”

Aurora reaches across and grabs her shirt. I try to get before she hurriedly covers her body. “If you’re involved with someone else, I think it’s fair to let me know.”

“I told you I’m single.”

“Right.” She drains her glass and sets it down next to her.

This thing between us is getting serious quick, and it’s not just her. But the more I’m with her the more I want to be with her.

I never expected to catch feelings for a woman ten years younger than me, and especially not Jeff’s daughter. But I have. And like I told Aurora, there’s no backpaddling.

I grip her waist and pull her back to me. I kiss the exposed skin between her shoulder and neck.

“Whatever I had before is over, tesoro?”

She looks back at me. “Really?”

“Really.”

“Even when we get back to the real world?”

“Location doesn’t matter. You’re mine, Aurora.”

Her eyes sparkle with unshed tears. She turns and wiggles until we’re sitting chest to chest. Her legs wrap around my back, and my arms hold her tight.

“And you’re mine.”

We kiss. The soft flutter of her lips demanding all I have. Who would have ever thought I’d be here, and I’d have a chance to be happy?Reallyhappy.
