"What's there not to understand?"

Frank shakes his head and continues to sip his drink. He remains silent, fiddling with his watch.

"So, what plans have you got for tonight? Do you want me to drive you home or have my driver take you?"

Frank sits forward. "Start speaking, man. What exactly has been going on? "

After everything Frank and I have shared, passing the night in my crib should be the last of my problems. But I can't deny that I'm uncomfortable as hell.

"So that proves it," Frank mutters. "You have something up your sleeve."

He's no longer acting like a friend. His eyes are cold and calculating. I'm concerned about ruining our friendship and our business.

The living room door creaks open, and Aurora steps in. The last I saw her, she was in a night dress, now she has changed into a bigger dress that hides all her sexy curves.

Frank grumbles as soon as he sees her.

"I'm the one he has been hiding. He didn't want to hurt you and I understood it."

"Jeff's daughter?" Frank looks at me as though I have taken leave of my sense. "Tristano, what the hell is going on?"

"She's right. We have a relationship. I have been meaning to tell you, but I didn't know how you'll take it."

"Is this a joke? Her father literally owes us money. You knew when she was young."

I shrug. "We got over that."

Frank leans closer. "This feels like a plan. She's trying to win her father's hotel back from you. If you're too blind to see it, I'm not. The hell, my eyes are always open."

"It's not like that."

"Tell me what it's like?" Frank grumbles. "First, you hid this from me, knowing I won't approve. She has a bad plan. Geez, Tristano, you should be smarter than this."

"Stop pointing at her," I mutter. "I know what I'm doing. I love her..."

Frank bursts into a wicked laugh. "You're kidding me right now."

"No, I'm not. What I feel for her is special."

Frank turns away from me and walks toward her. "What's your plan, girl? I can see through it. It's a game you and Jeff are playing. You can't fool."

I step in front of him, blocking his path to her. My jaws are taut, and I look as pissed off as I can muster.

"Stay away from her!"

"Ah, it's come to this now? You yell at me because of that..."

"Don't say it. I won't allow it." My tone is convincing enough because the b-word hangs in his mouth. He looks at me in disbelief. At that moment, he starts to realize she's not a girl like Kathy that he and I can pass to each other. I'm dead serious with Aurora.

"If you don't break up with her right now, our partnership is over. I mean, we're ending it all."

I swallow and look from Frank to Aurora, wondering why my love life has to be so damn complicated.

“I can’t believe you kept something this big away from me,” Frank shakes his head. “Look you have to choose between our business and her. I can’t let you date her, your decisions will be impacted!”

“Why do you think you have a say in who I date or not?”

“Okay, I’ll make this easy for you,” Aurora says from her position and immediately heads back into the living room.
