"I thought you forgot about her already," he mutters.

"She's always here," I jab my chest. "And contrary to what you think, there's no plan anywhere. We saw each other and fell in love. That's the fucking truth."

Frank t and shakes his head. He peers at me, and I hold his gaze. His eyes soften when he sees my resolve.

"I'm still suspicious..."

"This is real, amico. I love our relationship and business together but don't make me choose between you and her. I want you both. My happiness depends on that."

"You're sure she's not playing you?"

"Yeah, absolutely. I've not told you before, but I saved her from Vulcan and that's what made us bond. She didn't come on to me the way you imagined."

Frank opens his mouth to respond, but I carry on speaking. "Also, she's carrying my baby."

"Now, that changes everything," Frank mutters. His eyes water, and I know it has less to do with the liquor. "My dad wasn't there when I was going up. I don't wish that on any kid. No one deserves that."

I know that feeling too. Although my parents were happy and loving, they died too early. And I suffered a lot for it. The thought of Aurora leaving the city with my baby scares me, but the prospect of living without her is more depressing. How do I move on from all those beautiful memories?

I've followed Frank's advice and tried to live without her and evaluate my feelings. But nothing has changed, I'm madly in love with Aurora and there's nothing else to do about it than to make her mine.

"I want to see her right now," I say.

"I'll drive you." I'm stunned. I don't expect Frank to switch up so quickly.

"Is this all because of the child? You wouldn't have supported the idea if there was no baby."

Frank purses his lips. "I would have given in anyway. It's obvious how much you love her."

I grab my key from the table, down the glass of wine, and get off the chair. Only a one-on-one meeting can solve the situation. I've tried calling Aurora since we split, but she has ignored the calls.

I'm confident she'll change her mind when she sees me. We love each other that much. And her feelings for me couldn't have evaporated in the space of three days. As soon as I see my Aurora, I'll win her back. It just feels inevitable.

Frank throws his jacket on his shoulder and hurries with me out of the VIP. There's a special exit that allows us to bypass the massive crowd in the club and get straight to the parking lot.

We step out into the cloudy evening and slot into our cars. Frank takes his Chevrolet, and I set my hands on the wheels of the Maserati.

Frank gets on the road first, and I follow him, but after a couple of minutes, he slows down and lets me take the lead. I step on the gas, driving just under the speed limit to get to Aurora's house.

The windows are locked and dark. Aurora loves putting on the light even when there's no need for it. Without going further, I know she's not home. But to be sure, I get out of the car and hurry to knock on the metallic door. Nobody responds. I look behind me and see Frank leaning against his car, his hand resting on his chin.

"She's not home?"

"Yeah."

"Call her."

I wave my phone in a gesture of frustration. "She's not fucking answering."

"Damn! Where else could she be?"

"Maybe at Jeff's. Let's go to Jeff's."

Frank's face clouds when I mention Jeff but he gets in the car nonetheless and we head to Caymore avenue where Jeff stays.

We get there in a matter of minutes. The door is ajar, and police officers are already on the ground.

"No, no!" I mutter as I unhook my seatbelt and jump out of the car.
