I take a few deep breaths, reapply my makeup, and emerge completely fresh. I put on a fake smile as I exit.

“So, home then?” I grin. “Don’t we deserve the day off too?”

“Oh,principessa,” he says. “We’re taking you shopping.”

“No, we’re not, Felix,” I say, shaking my head.

“Yes, we are, princess,” he grins devilishly. He takes my hand and runs with me to the escalator. I can’t help but laugh.

We get off the elevator, and he leads me to the car. “So, what do you want to buy?” he asks me. “Clothes, dresses, shoes? A car?”

“No, Felix,” I say, shaking my head. “I swear to god, I won’t buy a thing.”

“Alright then,” he says. “I’ll be the one to pick.”

He parks outside the first mall we see. I refuse to get out of the car when he opens the door.

“Don’t be like that, Emily,” he says, his voice laced with amusement. “Come on, indulge me a little.”

I sighed and stepped out of the car, following him into the mall. As soon as we enter, I am overwhelmed by the noise and hustle of the place.

People rush in and out of stores, their arms laden with shopping bags.

Felix takes my hand and leads me into a high-end boutique.

“Try on anything and everything you like,” he says. “I want to see you in all kinds of outfits.”

I roll my eyes but let him have his fun. I browse clothes racks, picking out a few pieces that catch my eye. As I make my way to the fitting room, Felix follows me.

“Try these on and come out to show me. Don’t take a call on your own!”

I nod, taking the clothes and heading towards the fitting room.

I discard one or two because there’s no way I’m showing him every dress.

I step outside.

Felix turns around and catches me watching.

“Hey there, tiger,” he says, his voice low and seductive. “Are you ready to show me what you’ve got?”

I nod, feeling my cheeks heat up. I exit the fitting room, twirling in a green silk dress. Felix’s eyes light up as he looks at me.

“Wow,” he says. “You look absolutely stunning.” He steps closer and reaches out to adjust the dress.

His fingers brush against my skin, sending shivers down my spine.

“Felix,” I say softly. “You don’t have to buy me anything. You know that, right?”

“This is more for me and less for you, Em,” he says.

It’s the first time he’s called me Em. I like it. There’s a touch of familiarity, indicating that we’re close enough to create names for one another.

“Okay, this one then,” I say. “Can we get out of the store then?”

“What about those other dresses,” says Felix, looking past me towards the ajar door to my dressing room.

“Felix,” I say sternly. “Just this one.”
