"Consider it done, boss."

"Good," I say, nodding curtly. "And make it quick. I want answers."

As Tony slips away into the crowd, I find myself drawn to the window, staring out at the darkened cityscape.

The night stars twinkle like a million stars in the distance, each a reminder of the life Emily – Rosalie – was running from.

"Rosalie Battaglia," I whisper again, my knuckles turning white as I grip the windowsill.

"Why did you have to come into my life?"

"Talking to yourself, Felix?" A soft, sultry voice murmurs behind me.

I turn to see Delilah, one of my many acquaintances, leaning against the wall, her eyes filled with curiosity.

"Nothing important," I reply, forcing another tight smile as I try to shove the memories of Emily into the darkest corners of my mind.

"Just thinking about some…business matters."

"Ah, business," she purrs, stepping closer, her hand stroking my arm.

"You know what they say: all work and no play makes Felix a dull boy."

"Sorry, Delilah," I tell her, gently removing her hand from my arm.

"I'm not in the mood tonight."

She pouts, her perfect red lips forming a seductive frown.

"That's a shame," she murmurs.

"But if you change your mind, you know where to find me."

As she slinks back into the crowd, I let out a deep breath, feeling the world's weight pressing down on me.

How am I supposed to carry on when every touch, every whispered word, reminds me of the woman who betrayed me?

"Damn you, Rosalie Battaglia," I murmur under my breath, clenching my fists at my sides as I push down the storm of emotions threatening to spill out of me.

"Damn, you for making me fall in love with you."

Chapter 37

ROSALIE

My heart shatters into a million pieces as Felix turns his back on me, leaving me in the cold night air, tears streaming down my face.

I reach out to grab his arm, desperate for him to understand, but he shakes me off with a force that sends me stumbling backward.

The look in his eyes is like a dagger to my heart – cold, unforgiving.

"Please, Felix," I choke out through my sobs, "I never wanted any of this."

But he ignores me, walking back towards the party, leaving me alone and devastated.

My entire world crumbles around me, and the weight of it all threatens to crush me.

The man I love now sees me as an enemy, and there's nothing I can do to convince him otherwise.
