But above all, I want to know the truth.

"Please, amore mio," I pray silently as I search for her.

"Let me find you, make things right, and let us face whatever comes our way... together."

The White Rabbit bar looms before me, the neon sign flickering like a siren's call.

I push open the door, and the familiar scent of whiskey and cigarette smoke hits me like a punch to the gut.

"Hey, Felix!" Rodriguez, the owner, greets me jovially.

"What brings you here tonight?"

"Emily," I reply tersely, remembering the name she went by when she used to work around her, scanning the dimly lit room for any sign of her.

"Have you seen her?"

"Emily?" He strokes his chin thoughtfully. "Nah, haven't seen her in months. You two havin' some trouble?"

"Something like that," I mutter, my frustration mounting.

"If you see her, tell her I'm looking for her."

"Will do, boss." Rodriguez gives me a knowing nod as I turn on my heel and exit the bar.

"Where else could she be?" I ask myself, racking my brain for any other places Rosalie frequents.

My heart races with concern, and I can feel sweat beading at my temples.

Time is slipping through my fingers like sand, and I can't shake the nagging feeling that something terrible has happened to her.

"Think, Felix, think," I tell myself, clenching my fists. And then it comes to me: our workplace.

She made friends there.

For the first time in my life, I pray my people betrayed me by keeping her safe.

"Of course," I murmur, racing towards the office.

"She always felt safe there."

As I approach the grand entrance, I spot one of my men standing guard.

"Have you seen Emily?"

"Sorry, boss," he replies, shaking his head. "No one's come or gone all day."

"Damn it!" I curse under my breath, slamming my fist against the wall.

Panic gnaws at my insides, and I struggle to maintain my composure.

"Keep an eye out for her," I order him, my voice strained.

"Of course, boss," he nods solemnly.

"Rosalie, where the hell are you?" My thoughts scream her name, begging for an answer that refuses to come.

I try cafes, the mall we visited, and hotels she might seek shelter at.
