My heart hammers in my chest as I watch the brutal fight unfolding before me, every punch and kick sending waves of fear coursing through my veins.

The cruel reality of our world presses down on me, and all I can think about is the life growing inside me - the precious, innocent life that already means more to me than anything else.

"Emily," Felix grits out between his teeth as he lands another blow against Hunter, "I'll get you out of this."

I like that he’s still calling me Emily in this moment of urgency.

That can only mean one thing - he feels the same affection he felt for me when I was Emily.

To him, I’d always be Emily.

His words are a lifeline, and I cling to them with everything I have.

But Hunter isn't going down without a fight, and despite Felix's strength, I can see him struggling.

My vision blurs with tears, and I force myself to focus, to stay present.

"Fight, Felix," I whisper, my voice barely audible over their grunts and the impact of flesh meeting flesh.

"You have to win."

The way their bodies slam into each other, it's as if they're trying to tear one another apart.

In this moment, I know that only one can emerge victorious, and desperation claws at my chest, tightening its grip on my lungs.

"Enough!" Felix suddenly roars, fueled by a surge of power that sends Hunter reeling back.

He swiftly moves towards me, his eyes burning with determination.

"I won't let you take her!"

With lightning-fast reflexes, he grabs a nearby broken pipe and swings it hard at Hunter's head, knocking him unconscious.

Just then, with one swift move, I decide it’s now or never and as Felix turns to find my gaze,

I bite into my holder’s hand, twist it, turn it, and shoot him in his stomach.

He falls to the ground.

Panic and relief wash over me as Felix reaches for me, pulling me close to his battered body.

"Are you okay, Rosalie?" he asks urgently, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he scans me for any signs of injury.

“What did that bastard do to you? Where are you hurt?”

Tears stream down my cheeks as I nod, too overwhelmed to speak. --------------"Relax Felix, I'm okay, thanks to you," I manage to choke out, my voice trembling with emotion.

Felix's grip on me tightens ever so slightly as if he's drawing strength from our connection. "

I was a fool to have let you walk away like that. To have made you walk away like that.

I'll always be there for you, Rosalie," he vows, his eyes filled with unwavering conviction as he looks at my belly.

He places a gentle hand on it. "And for our child. No one will ever hurt either of you again, not while I'm alive."

As we stand there, battered and bruised but alive, I know in my heart that Felix Carlisi is a man who will keep his promises.

And despite the darkness surrounding us, I find solace in the knowledge that we can face whatever comes our way together.
