I shouldn’t have lied to him, I know, but what other choice did I have?

When he asked me if there was more ... how could I tell him that not only was there more, but also less.

That my father wasn’t an alcoholic, that I grew up with more money than I knew what to do with, and that my parents didn’t die in a car accident?

I don’t know how to proceed without fucking this up, but I hope and pray that somewhere down the line, I muster up the courage and find the right time to correct my wrongs.

If he found out from anywhere else, that would be my end. I would definitely end up with a bullet in my head.

“Would you mind closing your door next time you do that?” I hear him grumble from behind me.

I gasp and put the T-shirt on. I still haven’t found the bra I’m looking for.

“Sorry,” I say, turning around to face him. “I didn’t realize you were in here.”

Felix looks at me with a mixture of annoyance and desire in his eyes.

I can feel the tension between us, thick and heavy.

“It’s fine,” he says, clearing his throat. “I just didn’t expect to see you half-naked. And if you are, please close the door to your bedroom. You’re not making our arrangement any easier by functioning this way.”

I feel my cheeks flush with embarrassment and a strange sense of excitement.

How he looks at me makes me feel alive, like I’m wanted more than anything else in the world.

“Well, I’m done changing now,” I say, trying to keep my voice steady.

“Is there anything else you need from me?”

“Don’t do it again,” he says.

“You said that twice already,” I retort, now flustered with his holier-than-thou attitude.

“Right.”

“What do you need?” I ask.

Felix steps closer to me, and I can feel his breath on my skin. “Come down for dinner.”

“Dinner?”

“It’s 7 p.m. You don’t eat?”

“I eat, but I didn’t know we eat together.”

“Well, you live here now, don’t you?” he says, raising an eyebrow at me like I’m some imbecile.

I roll my eyes, feeling the anger boil in my veins.

I’m not some pet he’s just taken in, and I’m certainly not some toy he can play with whenever he feels like it.

I’m a woman with needs and desires, and I refuse to be treated like a child.

“I’ll come down for dinner,” I say, my voice low and challenging.

“But you need to understand something, Felix. I’m not some puppet you can control or manipulate. I’m here because I need your help, and you’re here because you need mine. We have an arrangement, and I expect you to

honor it. Tell me now what other surprises wait in store for me. How do you expect to treat me like a regular employee when I live with you and have meals with you? I just thought we’d manage our own meals.”
