I try to distract myself and look away from Enzo.

I sit on my desk, wire up the computer, and make spreadsheets of all crypto conversions - from tax to bitcoin to Ethereum to doge.

Who the fuck thought Doge was a buy? I roll my eyes and continue.

I smell him first before I see him.

The scent of his cologne, the same musky smokiness that drives me wild, wafts into the room.

I feel my heart race as I look up and see Felix walking toward me.

He looks so commanding in a black suit, his blue eyes piercing into mine.

“Good morning,” he says, that low voice sending shivers down my spine.

“Morning,” I reply, trying to keep my composure.

He leans in closer, his lips grazing my earlobe.

“I couldn’t help but notice you didn’t wait for me this morning, Emily. Were you trying to avoid me?”

I bite my lip, caught off guard by his seductive tone.

“I just thought I’d get to work early,” I say, trying to mask the wave of desire washing over me.

He smirks. “Well, you’re a dedicated worker, that’s for sure.”

Suddenly, his hands are on my desk, his body leaning over mine.

I can feel his warmth, and I arch my back closer to him. “How about we take a quick break?” he suggests, his tone dangerously flirtatious. “We could use some fresh air.”

He’s messing with me. He’s caught on to me.

“Felix,” I whisper, trying to sound stern. “We can’t do this here.”

But he’s relentless, his hand inching closer to the apex of my thighs. “Then where?” he says.

“Nowhere,” I retort.

He grimaces, clearly unimpressed by my lack of flair for adventure, and resorts to moving around the room.

I try to calm my nerves, and from the corner of my eye, I watch Enzo stare at me with a chilling gaze.

Fuck. Did he see that exchange?

I bite the inner corner of my lip. Now petrified of what Enzo must think. He hates me as it is.

Tonight, I must remind Felix of our arrangement. These little snide playful moments can not occur.

The day eggs on, slow and hard.

I sit at my desk, the glow of the computer screen reflecting in my tired eyes.

The room is dimly lit, with the faint hum of electronics filling the air.

In this little underground office, I’ve grown accustomed to the constant surveillance and the unrelenting pressure that comes with it.

But right now, something feels different.
