The tension between us dissipates as we realize we’re on the same side. The side of the Carlisi family.
“Is there anything else?” I ask her since she’s still standing there, lingering in the doorway.
“Well, yes,” she mumbles.
“My account received some extra cash this week. I think it was an error on the company accounts. I can wire it back, but I need to know which account to wire back to.”
I smile. Although I would never admit it, I had laid out little tests for her after knowing she had hacked into my computer under my own roof.
I needed to see which areas she could have my faith in, and one of the biggest security risks we face is financial fraud.
I had set up a bunch of automated transactions to her account, amounts unworthy of being noticed by a company like ours - amounts she could have just ‘never noticed.’
But each time, she returned it.
“It’s yours,” I say. “A bonus.” I made a mental note to myself to stop these automated debits.
She had my trust. I knew she’d never steal from me.
“What? No, Felix,” she said. “I refuse to take it.”
I walk over to her, closing the distance between us until our bodies are mere inches apart.
“Take it, Emily,” I say softly, my voice low and husky.
“Consider it a reward for your hard work and dedication to the family. You deserve it.”
Her eyes flick up to mine, and momentarily, I see a flicker of hesitation.
But then, she nods her head and accepts the money.
“Thank you, Felix,” she whispers, her voice barely audible.
I cup her face in my hands, lightly grazing her soft skin.
“You’re welcome,” I say, my voice low and seductive.
“But you know what?” I add, leaning in closer until my lips are almost touching hers. “I think you deserve something else as well.”
Emily’s eyes sparkle as she realizes what I’m implying. She takes a step back, her cheeks flushed with desire.
“You promised,” she says sternly, but her voice has an underlying tease. “No sex.”
I smirk and raise my hands up in surrender. “My bad,” I say. “But you know, if you ever change your mind ...”
She rolls her eyes playfully, but I can see the corner of her lips curving into a half-smile.
Before I can say anything else, Emily pounces and pins me against the wall, making moving impossible.
“Oh?” she challenges me teasingly, restraining my wrists above my head. “And why is that?”
I smirk at her, realizing that I may have underestimated her.
Emily was a fierce woman, and I had always known that. But seeing her take charge like this was something else altogether.
“Well, let’s just say that if you’re ever feeling frisky, you know where to find me,” I say with a twinkle in my eye.
Emily leans in closer, pressing her body against mine, and I can feel the heat emanating from her.
