She’d never thought of it that way. “It’s the constant in all the changes,” she said.

“Exactly,” Lily said. They heard a baby noise and Lily pulled out her phone. “Looks like my little man didn’t nap as long as I would have liked.” Lily showed her the camera on her phone.

“He’s getting so big.”

“They grow so fast. Just earlier, Willow was talking about another baby when Luke was here.”

“Do you want another one so soon?” she asked. She knew Lily was close to her mid-thirties at this point.

“Not this soon, but maybe not that far off. It’s my sisters’ turn.”

Which meant they were going to try not to have more than one of them out at once and Rose was next after Poppy.

“I don’t think they would care,” she said.

“Of course not. But someone has to look out for everyone. Or plan it out.”

It’d always been Lily for that.

“I’ll let you get back to your day. I’m going to stop at the retail store if you need me to bring anything,” she said. “Daisy asked me to bring her something to eat. She forgot her lunch and knew I was out.”

“That’s nice of you,” Lily said. “Just like having a sister of your own.”

“She’s great,” she said.

Heather left after she loaded her car up, stopped and got a burger and fries for Daisy and ran to the retail store and in the back where Daisy was working on a pair of earrings.

“Thank you,” Daisy said. “I’m starving.”

“No problem,” she said. Daisy went to pull some money out of her wallet. “You can get it next time.”

Daisy nodded her head. They did that often. “What’s going on with you today?”

“I was talking to Lily just now.” She debated telling Daisy what she learned about Luke but needed to tell someone.

“Wow,” Daisy said around a mouthful of her burger. “Maybe he’s waiting to let you know once he has the final location.”

“Could be,” she said. “Or he’s not interested.”

“I don’t think that is the case,” Daisy said. “But you won’t know until you talk to him. Are you going to reach out or wait for him?”

“I want to reach out but then told myself I’m going to wait. He knows I know when he’s done. If I don’t hear from him by then, I’ll have my answer.”

“As I said before, you’ve got more patience than me. I hope it works out. I think it will. I’ve got a good feeling about it.”

“What do you have a good feeling about?” Violet asked, coming into the back room. She hadn’t realized Violet was working today but should have with Jasmine out.

“Nothing exciting,” Daisy said. “I have a good feeling this burger is going to work out just fine in my belly.”

Violet laughed and eyed the two of them. She knew Violet was aware it was a lie but wouldn’t call them out on it.

It wasn’t until recently they all learned Violet Soren wasn’t her real name. That she was born Maria Sorrentino and Violet’s grandfather was a mob boss that had been murdered. Her parents had changed her name to protect her and sent her on to a private school.

There was another example of love.

Trace was the one that got Violet to tell everyone and no one even cared. More like they found it interesting.

“If you say so,” Violet said. She walked over and snagged a few of Daisy’s fries. “I was just coming back here to say I’m going to be leaving in thirty minutes. Chris and Maddy have the shop covered.”
